Winter Wellness: A Yoga & Herbal Workshop

Sunday 14 January | 1.30-5pm | Beechwood Club, Fishponds BS16 3TP

A winter warmer co-facilitated by yoga facilitators Hannah Embleton-Smith and Izzy Simpson, and Helen White, one of Bristol's finest medical herbalists.

In the heart of the quiet season, welcome in the new year with a restorative, meditative practice devoted to the earth element, which we embody in the minerals of our blood and bones. We'll consider the quiet invitation of winter's earth, working with mantra, asana, meditation and nidra to recognise ourselves in the season of clearing before renewal.

In the herbal work, Helen will bring her expertise to take us on a deep-dive into the medicinal actions and benefits of some common herbs, as well as a few not so well-known. Common plants that grow all around us can offer wonderful health-giving benefits, and there are straightforward ways of making a range of simple and effective remedies at home.

Learn the principles and practice of herbal preparation, try herbal tasters (including a healthy winter treat), and make your own tasty herbal vinegar to take home.

About us

Helen has been practising as a community herbalist for the past 8 years, with a firm belief in herbal medicine as “people’s medicine”. She has held a lifelong interest in the healing power of plants, and after years of using herbal remedies for herself and her family, she followed her dream of training as a medical herbalist. Through sharing her knowledge, Helen aims to demystify the preparation and use of herbal medicines and bring them back into everyday use and on our kitchen shelves, where they belong.

Izzy and Hannah are 550+ hour trained yoga facilitators, with a practice rooted in non-dual Śaiva tantra. We've completed most of our training with Sarah Harlow and Sam Burkey at Yogasara in Bristol, as well as trainings with Bristol Yoga Roots, Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, and Melanie Cooper.

On retreat together!
