Hi there,
Last Tuesday evening, something magical happened in Hackney Wick. Our sold-out event with Alexander Beiner and Josh Schrei of The Emerald podcast turned into one of those conversations that reminds you why we gather in the first place - not just to think differently, but to viscerally remind of us of our soulful place in the world.
Josh highlighted the shadow of exhausting individual spiritual heroism ("I have to save the world myself"), shared stories of dragons and living, breathing, singing rivers, and offered a reframing of the human condition of longing. The pain of separateness is fundamental to our nature. Rather than blaming Western modernity for all our feelings of disconnection, it's helpful to recognise our ancestors also felt this ache. It's what fuels the creation of all art, music, and poetry. We're not seeking a permanent state of connection and presence, but a practice of remembering and returning, over and over again, like the eternal pulse of the universe itself.

It was the kind of evening that stayed with people long after they left. If you missed it, we've written up the key insights on our blog, including musings on humans as custodians who participate in the world's ongoing creation through song, ceremony, and conscious relationship: "On Animism and the Modern Human"
Catch our next event with Alexander Beiner next Tuesday, July1st, in conversation with Douglas Rushkoff on the psychedelic origins of the internet and the future of AI.
As always, you can find all our upcoming events and retreats on our events page.
