Hi there,
Women are more likely to suffer from depression, PTSD, and eating disorders. Logic says you'd study women when developing treatments, right?
Wrong.
Women make up just 33% of psychedelic research participants. Some studies exclude them entirely. This research gap isn't just an academic problem - it's creating real safety issues in retreat spaces.
Most retreat protocols were designed without considering women's unique needs, trauma histories, or how their bodies actually respond to these medicines. The result? Women feeling unsafe, unheard, or retraumatised, despite facilitators' best intentions.

From consent in altered states to the power of women-only spaces, we're finally starting to understand what "holding space" really means.
You can join the conversation on Women's Psychedelic Experiences on July 22 in London as we dive deep with the incredible Dr. Grace Hopley and Mary Bonnett who collectively bring cutting-edge research on cannabinoids and neuroimaging together with years of experience facilitating women's ceremonies and working with sexual trauma survivors.
