Hi there,
Two weeks ago, we gathered near Angel to experiment - what would happen if we deepened into stillness and remained there whilst in movement?
For me and others I spoke with, this was powerful both in the moment and the following days.
Also, it was fun.
With the mind relaxed, intuition takes over. We played some music and let the body lead the way. Some might have mistaken this for ‘dancing’. (Scholars are in dispute.)
It is a natural way to integrate non-dual meditation with daily life.
We're gathering again twice more this month, and you're warmly invited to join:
Thursday 22nd Jan
Thurs 29th Jan
Relating in Awareness.
Imagine a world in which we all did deep inner-work, learning to communicate desires and boundaries with clarity and kindness!
After all, a rich life is made of deep relationships. But these can also be the first to disrupt inner peace and joy.
On Sat 31st of Jan we’re holding a one-day retreat to deepen into awareness, and then practice communication whilst in presence.
We'll start the day with group awareness meditation. It's a powerful and fast way to discover a spacious, vibrant and peaceful presence that is already there.
We'll then do exercises from Relational Life Therapy. It's a profound model with incredible insight into relationship patterns, and many tools to help attune to what’s happening between you and others, communicate desires and boundaries with kindness, replace reactivity with honesty, avoidance with intimacy, and tools for repair after conflict.
I think this work can change the world, so I hope many of you are moved to come!
Global Change
The world is hampered by an outdated materialist view of reality. A mechanistic perspective that incentivises short-term thinking. But what if a company is not merely a profit engine inside a dead universe, but an expression of a living, meaningful whole?
If organisations are living systems they'll thrive most in a network of reciprocity, not competition.
I'm excited to have Dr Jude Currivan, PhD MSc CMA, (cosmologist, planetary healer, futurist, and author) come join us to speak to this topic.
A daughter of coal miners, she has an MA in physics from Oxford, a PhD in archaeology, and senior business experience ranging from the UK Stoke exchange to international corporations like HMV and Scholl.
Her work in physics points to consciousness, information and meaning as primary to existence. Together with leading economists, she's working on a systemic transformation in global economy guided by observable patterns of the universe.
On Tues 27th of Jan she'll dialogue with Bernardo Kastrup as to how a non-dual science-informed perspective on reality could invite a systemic transformation in global economy, and how we live our lives….
Some personal thoughts
Since you’re receiving this newsletter, I’m going to assume you are at least a curious about non-duality, the claim that what most of us are looking for is already here, but mostly ignored.
After all, thoughts are naturally busy with future and past, with the contents of awareness more than awareness itself. That’s just how it is, (but not how it always has to be.)
When I look to where I’m looking from, listen to what is listening, think back to the space where thoughts happen, what I first find is silence, then later, something vibrant, creative, peaceful and pure.
What’s not to love?
When the turmoil of outrageous fortune takes over, the contraction can be intense.
Yet, the background silence is always there, (or at least whenever I’ve checked.)
So how can the qualities of stillness be more of a resource during life’s most challenging chapters?
Well, some people choose to isolate, and focus on this to the exclusion of everything else. Some even report a shift, where these qualities remain in the foreground no matter the circumstances.
But historically there have been other options.
To gather and contemplate together. To appreciate both the spacious miracle of awareness, and the dynamic and bewildering content of life. To be both the eagle, flying high in the vast sky of awareness, untouched and all seeing, and be the twisting turning serpent, in touch with the turmoil and trouble of life, but ready to shed skin and transform.
After all, non-dual means the content and context are indeed ‘not-two’!
When serpent and eagle alchemise, the dragon can emerge.
So here is thanking everyone that joins these events. Presence is amplified when we're together, and we can't do group meditation alone, or transform how we relate if all we do is contemplate.
So here is welcoming anyone that would like to meditate, move, relate and meditate through any of the above or below opportunities.
With thanks!
Amir
