Sheela na Gig  

An ancient being from time long ago is calling us back to her magic. 

She who is a portal of transformation, found on churches and sacred sites across the land near and far, 

holds a key of remembrance,

To a time when the cycles of life were  honoured. 

Let us celebrate her magic and call her blessings back into our lives and this land. 

At this time of spring, as the old is released and the new emerges,  I invite you to come and gather in circle as we call in the presence of this wise one, and connect with the medicine that she holds. 

How can she support us through transitions and thresholds in our lives ? 

How does she root us into the inherent cycles of life and death of this land ? 

We shall work with charcoal ,clay and soil, to create and mould  our own Sheela na Gigs. So that she may return home to your hearth, and call you back into connection and trust with the ever unfolding cycles of life. 

My work of tending to birth as a doula, and holding spaces to honour pregnancy loss, has taught me much about the thin  line between life and death. Our ancestors held deep respect for these thresholds and experiences that we go through as women, and knew how to invoke powerful allies to assist them with this work. 

You are invited to join this circle and meet  Sheela na Gig, one of these ancient beings who roots so deeply into our land, to the time before the patriarchy, when the cycles of life were honoured and celebrated. In meeting and connecting with her, we may be open to her blessings and teachings that can bring healing to us and the land.
