EDB unites the worlds of Ecstatic Dance, diverse dance music and sound system culture. Using the practice of Ecstatic Dance we create held spaces for you to express, expand and experience rejuvenation through movement, dance and sound.

The experience is a modern day ritual where the communion of people, movement and sound serve as mediums for transformation, liberation and soul invigorating celebration. Our community gatherings are alcohol-free and are suitable for all ages, all abilities and all people. Everyone is welcome.

Benjamin Tree is a qualified Movement Medicine teacher and Breathwork facilitator. He has his roots in the underground dance music scene of the 90's when he was DJing Drum & Bass and Jungle as a teenager. As the years went by, he fell in love with many genres of music. Now, Benjamin weaves an eclectic mix of deep soulful soundscapes, heavy basslines and uplifting melodies to create dance journeys that awaken the senses, liberate and empower.

Alyzabeth Anath has been leading ceremonial, conscious and Ecstatic Dance for 10 years. She co-managed Santa Barbara Dance (California) Tribe for 2 years. We're very happy to welcome her, all the way from California, USA to Bristol, UK.

Inspired by the carnival tradition, HoneyFlower Sounds operate a uniquely designed, hand crafted sound system. The Fibonacci spiral speakers are the first of their kind in the world and have a sound like no other speaker. Come listen to them for yourself and experience their true magic and power.

HEALTH, SAFETY & WELLBEING

As an organised outdoor physical activity, our events are fully compliant with the latest government regulations and we have full permission from Bristol City Council and Avon & Somerset Police to run our Ecstatic Dance sessions on The Downs. Our sessions are covid-secure and respect social distancing measures.

We ask all participants to take responsibility for themselves; and to be sensitive, considerate and respectful of others. If you are experiencing any symptoms of covid-19 (check here: http://nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms) then please stay at home, rest and be well.

Before, during and after the session, please only gather closely with either people from the same household or people from the same bubble or in a group of a maximum of 6 people.

ECSTATIC DANCE GUIDELINES

Ecstatic Dance is self-expression through free-form dance and movement. It’s an embodiment practice which brings awareness to and connects together heart, mind, body and soul; authentically connecting with your whole self and authentically connecting with others.

Our events are family friendly. All people and all abilities are welcome. 

We use the following guidelines to create a safe and held space for you to express the full spectrum of yourself, to express your uniqueness and to experience rejuvenation through movement, dance and sound:

- be here: no shoes
- be free: dance how you want / no judgement
- be present: no phones / cameras
- be clear: no intoxicants
- be embodied: no talking
- be consensual: respect boundaries / be aware of your own personal space and that of others

This scheme allows people who are financially comfortable, to pay towards the ticket of a dancer who is not so financially abundant.

£12 Concession (+50p bf)
