what is ecstatic dance?

ecstasy (from Ancient Greek ἔκστασις ékstasis) is a subjective experience of total involvement of the subject, with an object of his or her awareness

in classical Greek literature it meant the removal of the mind or body "from its normal place of function"

Matthew Adams

DJ 

Matthew is the curator of Friday Night Dance in the Mycelium Space.

Through the first half of  2023 he organised Portal Dance in Frome: an experimental dance space held with Nikhil Kirsh where one of Nikhil's portal paintings would be drawn like a tarot card at the beginning of the night to inform the dance.

Matthew's dance journey began in Brighton in an old building with an empty swimming pool. His style is informed from years of dancing 5 Rhythms and Ecstatic Dances across the UK since 2007. Matthew is a musician as well and will be weaving in one of his own tracks to this journey.

He is also a Contact Improv dancer and plays live guitar regularly for Contact Improv jams.
