Exploring Belonging through Place:

Nature Connection

In this, the first of a series, we are going to be exploring a sense of what it means to belong, through experiencing a sense of place and the Nature around us.

Many of us are living in an area or even country which is not where we were born; maybe we've moved around a lot; maybe we've no strong sense of 'home' or ‘tribe’. We might experience disconnect from a sense of not belonging to place or community in a deep way. Many of us are looking for ‘belonging’. What does that mean? How do we create that? or enrich it further?

Place is one of the 'measures of belonging' that I use. For many this is one of the gaps in our sense of belonging - a sense of indigeny to a place.

For traditional cultures around the world  one of the foundations of belonging is a connection to an area of the world or landscape. Yet for many of us this takes work to recreate for ourselves.

With conscious attention we are able to build a sense of belonging through the natural world, even in areas that are new or unfamiliar.

This workshop is the start of this conscious  conversation, where we begin to bridge these gaps.

We meet quite early with the potential to see deer in the mist, listen to the early birds and skip the crowds!

During this fun and varied morning outdoor workshop we gather for around 3 hours, to explore belonging and connection together through

Nature Connection exercises. Connecting to the plants, animals and place around us.

Wild Food explorations. Tasting the edible landscape.See what plants are available in Autumn and discuss responsible foraging.

Dialogue. with self and others.

Walking the land

This is an introduction to these tools and ideas. We learn these tools to apply during and outside of the workshop. and also experience walking in a beautiful area together.

practicalities: This is a fully outdoor based workshop. This event is not fully accessible, there may be steps and uneven ground. Typically we ask participants to be adults or accompanied 14+. No pets because of nature of the workshop. Participants are required to be responsible for their own safety and choices during the event, and the organisers accept no responsibility for participants actions or safety. please msg with questions.

This is a very gentle exploration of belonging. We understand that in our highly disconnected world this subject could be slightly  ‘triggering' for some people, although we do not expect to be during the event. Any questions or queries about suitability please msg before event.
