Reimagining Crypto Beyond Capitalism

In an era of climate breakdown, widening inequality, and rising fascist governments, traditional economic systems continue to prioritize growth and extraction at all costs. Meanwhile, much of the blockchain space has been co-opted by the very capitalist forces it once promised to disrupt. What was once the image of revolutionary potential now seems to be funneling more wealth to the existing elite. This doesn't negate the radical potential and results that the technology has made already but there is clearly a need for a post-capitalist alternative in crypto.

At BREADCON  we will reclaim the radical potential of this technology. This is not just another crypto conference—it's a collective moment to imagine and build the tools for a post-capitalist future when we need them most urgently. As systems falter around us, we gather to ask: what would it mean to truly design for solidarity, sustainability, and shared abundance? Perhaps solidarity primitives?

Join us for the inaugural BREADCON during Berlin Blockchain Week — a two-day gathering where the radical soul of crypto comes alive. Breadchain Cooperative invites you to explore what blockchain technology can truly mean in a post-capitalist world. Programming will include talks, workshops and more that are meant to bridge the gap between those who are thinking about and building the most interesting things in crypto and those doing the on the ground work for laying the foundation of post-capitalist institutions in meatspace. Let's use the light brought to us by the solstice on these days to illuminate the darkness.

What to Expect:

• Talks and workshops from member projects within the Breadchain ecosystem and broader network
• Sessions with activists using crypto for mutual aid and solidarity (including our Gaza relief initiatives)
• First look at our rebrand to Bread Cooperative and special zine release
• A marketplace where you can use BREAD tokens to purchase goods from our community (bring cash to exchange!)
• A space to connect with others imagining alternative economic futures
• A solstice ritual to birth the new
• Free outdoor concerts we can all go to afterwards in the city of Berlin

BREADCON is free to attend, though registration is recommended to secure your spot. We welcome developers, activists, artists, theorists, and the crypto-curious alike.

About Breadchain Cooperative:

Breadchain Cooperative is a community-driven project exploring blockchain technology as a tool for post-capitalist economics. We're building decentralized infrastructure that prioritizes mutual aid, collective ownership, and solidarity rather than extraction and accumulation. Through our BREAD token ecosystem, we're experimenting with alternative models of value exchange, governance, and resource distribution. Our member projects span from direct aid initiatives to community ownership structures, all united by a vision of technology that serves human needs rather than corporations or states.
