The Psychedelic Health Professionals Network envisions a world where psychedelics are used responsibly, ethically, and safely to enhance wellbeing, cultivate transformation and deepen our connection to ourselves, others and the natural world. Our commitment to this vision is embodied in our evidence-based, legally grounded and ever-evolving retreat program.
This May, we invite you to our Psilocybin Meditation Retreat — a transformative retreat set in the serene Dutch countryside. Here, self-discovery unfolds through two guided psilocybin ceremonies which are held in a silent meditation retreat style, meditation, breathwork, and creative expression in dance, art, and deep connection with nature. You’ll have the space to embrace new beginnings and explore fresh perspectives on growth.
This retreat is held in an open, secular (non-religious) manner. Any participant can meditate in the style of their choosing - whether that is following a modern mindfulness based approach, or a more traditional dharma approach - or a mix of all the above! All are welcome. Whilst there will be some guided meditations, they are always an invitation.

PSYCHEDELICS AND MEDITATION
There have been a number of studies performed over the past few years examining the relationship between psychedelics and meditation with intriguing and promising results.
Several groups of researchers have studied high dose psilocybin compared to placebo in meditators and found that those who received psilocybin experienced a number of benefits during meditation including:
- Increased mindfulness which remained the day after the retreat
- A strong mystical or spiritual experience - among the top five most spiritual experiences of their lives, or in a large proportion of cases the most spiritually significant experience of their life
- Enhanced meditation experiences including enhanced ability and depth/quality
- A variety of beneficial psychoemotional changes e.g. increased acceptance, connection, peacefulness, transformation
After the retreat, there were a number of changes identified, which persisted at the six month follow up mark for example:
- positive changes in attitudes about their lives and themselves;
- positive mood changes;
- increased altruism;
- positive behaviour changes
- increased spirituality.
- other positive changes for example increased gratitude, the ability to forgive, improved life meaning, appreciation of life, self-acceptance, quest for meaning and sense of purpose, and appreciation of death.
In one study, participants' friends/colleagues were also interviewed and said that they had noticed significantly positive changes in behaviour and attitudes.
Taken together these studies provide a foundation upon which PHP have decided to offer this special psilocybin and meditation retreat, to provide an opportunity for meditators to experience for themselves how psilocybin affects and deepens their meditation practice.
For a more detailed review and summary of the different papers discussed above, you can read our research summary paper here.
“Do not go upon what has been acquired by repeated hearing, nor upon tradition, nor upon rumor, nor upon scripture, nor upon surmise, nor upon axiom, nor upon specious reasoning,… nor upon another's seeming ability, nor upon the consideration 'The monk is our teacher.'
When you yourselves know: 'These things are good, blameless, praised by the wise; undertaken and observed, these things lead to benefit and happiness,' enter on and abide in them."
The Buddha, Kalama Sutta, AN 3.65

SCREENING
Anyone applying for one of the PHP retreats will be sent a detailed Application Form which will cover important information necessary for our team to determine if psilocybin is safe for each individual and if our retreats are suitable for you. You will then be contacted by one of our screening team and, if appropriate, a screening video call will be set up. It is of the utmost importance that you are completely honest and that you provide us with full and correct information during this process so that we can ensure your safety and the safety of others.
PREPARATION AND INTEGRATION
Preparation and integration are key aspects of the psychedelic experience, and we have developed our approach to this informed by our experiences facilitating group therapeutic processes, aiming to create a sense of group cohesion.
Prior to arrival, everyone will be assigned to a small ‘pod’ of about 4 participants, with each pod having 1 facilitator (typically a 1:4 ratio) who will be working with them on the retreat. As part of their preparation, participants will have a 1:1 video call and, usually, a small group video call with their pod facilitator before the retreat. During the call, they will have the opportunity to get to know each other, talk through personal intentions and receive more practical details about the retreat.
Following the retreat, there is an additional 1:1 and pod video call with their facilitator. An online meet-up for the whole group is also provided. For those who wish to keep in contact, the option of continuing to meet thereafter in a peer support format is available. The group will also be able to connect via WhatsApp and will have access to PHP’s network-wide monthly integration group.
Lastly PHP offers monthly preparation and integration sessions which are open for anyone to attend and connect in community.

Our retreat centre is set on a traditional farm with 8,000m² of beautiful grounds. The farmhouse, built in the traditional Dutch style, houses some of the bedrooms, while others are located in two adjacent buildings. Additionally, the centre features charming ‘tiny houses,’ which guests love for their peaceful, cozy atmosphere - offering a unique and restful experience. Toilets and showers are conveniently located near all rooms.
Each retreat participant will have their own private room, and we will take all accommodation needs into consideration.
The ceremony space is a traditional Finnish Kota, designed for comfort and transformation. It features soft lighting, underfloor heating and an inviting atmosphere. Set amidst mature trees and overlooking a serene pond, it provides a truly special setting for deep inner work.
Nature is at the heart of this retreat centre’s appeal, with a ley line running through the site, adding to its unique energy.
Lovingly developed over the past 40 years, this retreat space has a distinctive atmosphere that participants consistently find supportive and enriching.
‘I couldn’t recommend a safer and more welcoming space to journey in this way. So much attention and care has been taken to support you wherever your sacred medicine journey takes you.’

Kate Mollison

I have been involved in providing counselling and psychological services for over 25 years, and I am still enthusiastic and open to ways that can help and heal us.
My therapeutic practice has evolved over the years, having initially trained in person centred therapy, recognising that there is no ‘one size fits all approach’ and the importance of the individual’s experience; – then training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with a more structured and evidence based approach, and currently, exploring Compassion focused therapy, which integrates and incorporates a whole range of approaches - including behavioural, neuroscience, mindfulness and attachment.
My involvement with PHP began with curiosity about the emerging research into psychedelics and their potential positive impact on mental health; This developed into involvement and running our legal retreats programme in the Netherlands, helping to ensure an optimum set and setting; I am also involved in the PHP network, trying to create a community and provide support in integrating the retreat experience.
As a therapist, I am specifically interested in the ability to break through unhelpful or stubborn behavioural patterns, and to create new ways of thinking and being, and as Huxley writes ‘opening new doors of perception’ .
I hope that our retreats can give the opportunity to see the world through new eyes, to make deeper connections with themselves, with others and with the natural world around them.
Since being involved with PHP 5 years ago, I have a greater appreciation of nature and am fortunate to live in Glasgow, where we have lochs, coastal areas and mountains within an hours drive. I enjoy painting and listening to live music, and walking my lovely whippet.
Coen de Koning

Coen de Koning shares a private practice together with his partner in Holland. Together they offer therapeutic support for people who are interested in legal psilocybin experiences. Though formally educated as a physics engineer and a designer, he was trained and worked at an Ayahuasca retreat centre in the Netherlands for a number of years before teaming up with Patrycja and starting their work together. Based on his partner’s MAPS training, the support they offer in their practice is heavily influenced by both Hakomi mindfulness based somatic therapy and IFS or Internal Family Systems therapy.
Over the past ten years, Coen has guided hundreds of people in their diverse psychedelic experiences, both in groups with Ayahuasca and individually with psilocybin truffles and there is nothing he would like to do more for the rest of his life.
Dr Michael Barry

Michael qualified as a medical doctor from the University of Edinburgh in 2013 and has worked since 2015 as an Emergency Medicine doctor (A&E). In 2020, a little burned out, he had his first experience of psychedelics on a week long retreat with Ayahuasca in which he was blown away by their massive potential for facilitating psychoemotional and spiritual work.
He certified in 2023 as a psychedelic practitioner on the 18 month Synthesis programme, culminating in a month’s placement running the psychotherapeutic programme at an Ayahuasca retreat centre in Mexico, Centro Nierika. In May 2024 he had the pleasure of facilitating at the PHP psilocybin and meditation retreat, and has since joined the admin team. He works as an integration facilitator with the UK Psychedelic Society.
Receiving an MSc in Psychotherapy with distinction in 2024, he is now a psychotherapist and completed his research dissertation on the bodily experience of psychedelics. He has significant experience with residential addiction work and group work. He most recently completed Level 1 Internal Family Systems training and tends to favour using this modality, whilst holding close his original Rogerian Person-Centred training.
He has significant experience in the Ayahuasca tradition from the Peruvian jungle, having travelled to Peru multiple times to do traditional silent Ayahuasca retreats called “dietas”. He also has deep personal experience with psilocybin and mescaline, and has done experiential training with MDMA.
Michael is also an avid meditator with over 8 weeks of silent meditation retreat experience, most recently at Gaia House in August 2023 and October 2024 following the teachings of Rob Burbea. He has considerable experience of meditating whilst on psychedelics.
