Ecstatic Dance Lewes

Ecstatic Dance is a freeform dance style that encourages people to dance and move in ways that are freeing and natural. It is a movement meditation that can help people to feel more connected to themselves and to others. There are no steps to learn so you are free to follow the flow and impulse of your own body and how it needs to move.

The class will begin with a warm up followed by a moment to come together and tune in as a group. After that there is a guided movement session with music starting slowly and then building to a peak of energy, before gently returning to a peaceful, still place before the closing circle. There will be opportunities to dance with others in pairs and small groups, however these are optional and you are welcome to follow your own needs at all times.

Who is it aimed at: Ecstatic dance is for everyone, regardless of age and experience, you can be as gentle and slow or as energetic as you feel!

People can dance barefoot or with shoes suitable for indoors. Bring a bottle of water and comfortable clothing to move in.
