EDB combines the worlds of Ecstatic Dance, diverse dance music and sound system culture with prayer, mindfulness and ritual. 

Using the practice of Ecstatic Dance we create a held space for you to express, expand and experience rejuvenation through movement, dance and sound.

The experience is a modern day ritual where the communion of people, movement and sound serve as mediums for transformation, liberation and soul invigorating celebration.

Our community gatherings are sober and suitable for all ages, abilities and people.

Mira Khanya | Movement Medicine x Ecstatic Dance

Mira Khanya intuitively weaves from the rich tapestry of her experience as a Movement Medicine teacher, dancer, therapist and artist. She creates beautifully crafted immersive dance journeys, inviting us to access the intelligence within and experience the power of embodied transformation. Her love of ceremony is reflected in how she creates. Activating the embodied imagination through a weaving of words and evocative music - we are invited into a dance journey of deepening connection. Our movement becomes the medicine that opens the gateway to insight and inspiration as we dance our prayers for the love of this extraordinary life.

Mira has a deeply rooted and embodied understanding of the transformative and healing power of movement. Creativity and commitment to her own inner-work and wholeness have always been central in her life. Mira has studied Movement Medicine, Meditation, Shamanic practices, Physical Theatre, Yoga, Embodied Listening and a variety of other dance and movement practices.

We have been working with Amber Audio ever since we first launched EDB in February 2019. They provide d&b audiotechnik equipment which is one of the best manufacturers in the industry.

We have a limited number of Low Income tickets. Please only buy this ticket if this applies to you, so they are available for you and other people who are genuinely on a low income.

Please note, we do not arrange refunds.

Ecstatic Dance Guidelines

• Be here: no outside shoes
• Be free: dance how you want / no judgement
• Be present: no phones & no unauthorised filming or photography
• Be embodied: no talking on the dance floor
• Be clear: no alcohol or drugs
• Be consensual: respect & honour boundaries of yourself & others - if it's not a clear “YES”, everything else must be considered a “NO”

Safe(r) Space Agreement

• You are responsible for yourself, your wellbeing & your belongings
• You are responsible for your own experience & interactions with others
• You agree to be consensual, respect other people's boundaries & ensure you give as much space as they require - if it's not a clear “YES”, everything else must be considered a “NO”
• People can change their mind, therefore remember that a YES can always turn into a NO and that must be respected every time
• You agree that you are able to say “YES” or “NO” in an appropriate way (a “NO” can be ‘prayer hands’ or Namaste followed by a bow)
• Be mindful, respectful and aware of yourself & others
• If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable for any reason then please let our Welfare Angel or a Team Member know immediately
