Area23a and Umbrella Films proudly announce the EUROPEAN LIVE STREAM PREMIERE OF “AWARE”
THURSDAY, MARCH 3RD AT 7:00 PM CET (6 PM London Time, 1 PM NYC)
Live post-screening discussion with Directors Frauke Sandig & Eric Black; Roland Griffiths, Ph.D., Director, Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research; and Monica Gagliano, Professor of Plant Behavior & Cognition, University of Sydney
What is consciousness? Is it in all living beings? Why are we predisposed for mystical experience? And what happens when we die?
With haunting cinematography, AWARE follows six of the world’s most brilliant researchers approaching the most mysterious of enigmas, consciousness, from radically different perspectives, from within and without: through high-tech brain research and Eastern meditation, by scientifically exploring inner space through psychedelic substances and delving deep into the consciousness of plants. Scientists are arriving at new insights – some which have been integral to Indigenous knowledge for millenia.
The European Live Stream Premiere of Aware brings a wide array of organizations and communities together to take a mind-blowing cinematic journey into the ocean of consciousness. By screening the film live across the globe, AWARE will establish a “collective connectedness” with the audience.
Afterward, the audience will participate in a post-screening cinematic forum, where, after contemplating consciousness for themselves, they will have the opportunity to learn how they are truly interconnected with all things.
A Documentary by Frauke Sandig & Eric Black, 102 min., Germany / USA

Attending this sharing circle was a powerful experience for me. I got a lot of insights from what others shared and also from the discussions we had during the event and afterwards at the pub. It felt so nourishing to connect with people who find this subject as meaningful as I do. Since the event I’ve noticed feeling quite different to how I was in the days preceding - like an unfolding sense of peace and love. It might not be down to the circle 100% but I do think it has had a significant impact on me. I plan to go back to the circle as often as I can. Thanks to Jess and Danny for facilitating and to everyone else who shared their thoughts and experiences.

Led by lovely Jessica this was well held, big variety of people present but all kind and friendly. Space to share in pretty much equal time slots which I like a lot having been in/led peer groups a lot myself!
