Introduction

We - women - are most of the time not okay expressing our anger. 

Maybe because we never learnt how to unleash it and we are scared of it, 

Or we might be afraid of what other people think of us.

But this intense emotion, when expressed, can give us a lot of clarity. 

Our anger is an ally and a valuable signal that can show us places where we experience injustice, disappointment, threat or violation. 

We believe that a new narrative about women and anger is needed. 

This is why we are making a movement based short film about anger & women (see more information here).

And what we experienced during the filming days was so powerful that we decided to offer an exclusive anger workshop, which will contribute to funding the film's production. 

So join us for an immersive workshop created exclusively for women, where you will be able to express your rage and liberate yourself from repressed emotions in no other ways before! 
 

About the Workshop:

In this one-of-a-kind workshop, you'll have the unique opportunity to delve into your relationship with anger, gain insights from fellow participants, and explore practical techniques to release and manage anger constructively.
 

Agenda 

  • Arrival (doors will open at 2:15pm and we will start at 2:30pm sharp. Come on time!)
  • Grounding meditation & poem
  • Connecting with each other through our anger experiences
  • Anger activation with live drums and ecstatic shakti movements
  • Liberation and artistic release through art therapy and movement-painting
  • Sound healing bath
  • Closing circle

The workshop lasts for 3 hours and will take place at Wonderful Things.

About the short film: 

Through a compelling docu-fictional narrative, SEIEN: Love Your Rage delves into the societal pressures that often lead women-identifying individuals to suppress their anger, as well as into the transformative power that arises from embracing the complex and diverse colours of our emotions.

The film unfolds in two realms: The collective unconscious where anger’s different facets and stages are expressed through raw embodied movement and dance; and a speculative present re-imagining what ‘tending’ for anger could look like as a conscious cultural practice.

Besides the transformative potential of embracing anger, the larger project aims to touch upon the complexities of the theme. For instance, the tension between the use of compassion to let go of anger, and the necessity to channel the same energy to fight for justice.

We aim for the work to act as a catalyst for inspiring dialogue, reflection and action around our personal and collective relationships with anger, in its most nuanced and mindful understanding.


About the Organizers:

We are a team of women, who are on our own anger journeys and we have come together to make this project come to life. 

The workshop will be led by a group of experienced facilitators, including: 

  • Orshi, neo-emotional release facilitator
  • Mar, cognitive neuroscientist, kundalini yoga teacher
  • Zaira, art therapist
  • Safiatu, sound healing practitioner
  • Mela, sounds healing practitioner, pole dance and meditation teacher
  • Yoon-Joo, film director, facilitator and entrepreneur
