This Month's Theme: Psychedelics & The Imaginal

Psychedelics have long influenced art and language, captivating humans with their ability to open doors to the imaginal realm. In this unique talk and discussion, poet and author Pete the Temp will discuss the connection between altered states, the imagination and mental health. He will explore the works of bards, philosophers, and mystics who have been inspired by these substances. He will also consider how psychedelics could be a spirited response to the pervasive disenchantment, boredom, and depression of the modern world.

Pete is a poet, comic, and author whose mission is to incite a spirit of carnival, wonderment, and riotous love. He is currently touring an absurdist, psychedelic poetry stage show with an orchestral harpist, synth player, and loop station. Their new album, Pete the Temp and the Vibe Mechanics is available on all streaming platforms.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A and open group discussion on the topic.
