COVID-19 has brought us unwillingly into the eye of an existential storm; we are surrounded by death like never before.
In our own way, we are all grappling with the challenges mortality brings - constant fear for the health of a loved one, anxiety relating to the unknowable near-future, the terror of our own demise. For some, fear is subsumed by grief - for the loss of a life, for the loss of a way of life.
Individually and as a society, we have an uncomfortable relationship with death. Socially constructed ideals in the modern time dictate that we be stoic in the face of fear and in the aftermath of loss, whether it be physical or symbolic. Death is taboo, it has become forbidden and even shameful. Ritual and practice which fosters a relationship with death and the expression of grief have been replaced by a collective denial of death and the suppression of emotion.
This will not serve us, and certainly not now.
This workshop will provide a space to delve deeper. We will touch on how mortality is moving us, how death is impacting on our lives in the present, and how we can cultivate an ongoing and nourishing relationship with death, during the current crises and well beyond.
To these ends we will employ sharing, embodiment and journalling, all via Zoom. If you haven’t used this before, please join 15 minutes early to download the free software and check your connection. To get the most out of this workshop, prepare a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted. Please bring a notebook and pen.

FEEDBACK
"A great evening spent, loving energy, I felt safe in opening up and speak in a group of people I never met.Thank you Bilal." - David S.
"It was such a heart soothing and soul enriching experience to participate in the space you created. I felt so utterly welcomed, free to bring whatever was alive in me, and never pressured to be anywhere I wasn't. I had moments of feeling a huge resistance in myself, and was allowed to dance with that, and invite what was hiding underneath. The threads that you wove to create our container felt so gently, lovingly and intentionally woven, held with both sincerity and lightness." - Anon
