Our agenda for this meeting is the following:

  1. Introductions and Getting to Know Each Other: As our book club continues to grow, it's important for us to foster a sense of community.
  2. Discussion of Iain Magilchrist's Short Essay: Our main focus for the meeting will be the discussion of Iain Magilchrist's thought-provoking short essay; here's a link to access it: https://www.rcpsych.ac.uk/docs/default-source/members/sigs/spirituality-spsig/iain-mcgilchrist-can-the-divided-brain-tell-us-anything-about-the-ultimate-nature-of-reality.pdf?sfvrsn%3Da1e381e1_2  spanning 13 pages. I encourage you to read it for an engaging and insightful conversation before the meeting.
  3. Selection of Next Book: During the meeting, we will also determine the book we will read and discuss next in our book club.
  4. Discussion of Alternate Meeting Time and Day: In addition to discussing our next book selection, we will also take some time to discuss whether there is a more suitable meeting time and day that would accommodate everyone's schedules better. We want to ensure that all members can actively participate in our meetings.

This session will happen on Tuesday 6th of June, 7 pm UK time.

I'm excited to continue our literary journey together and delve into the fascinating world of Iain Magilchrist's essay. Remember, this book club is a space for intellectual exchange, friendship, and discovering new perspectives.

If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to contact me. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Warm regards,

Nour

We are a book club that runs discussions once every two weeks on Tuesdays at 7 pm GMT online, where we discuss the works of Bernardo Kastrup and other texts and ideas related to metaphysical idealism. We have diverse members from many different countries, backgrounds and interests who have come to share an interest in Bernardo Kastrup’s idealism, and we are always eager to welcome new members.

We have previously interviewed Bernardo Kastrup and Philip Goff as a book club and intend to host more interviews in the future! Please find links to the two interviews mentioned below.

If you would like to join these informal yet invigorating conversations, please register your name and email address and tell us a little about yourself and why you’d like to join our group. You'll be sent the Zoom link to join the next session.

About the host

Hi, I’m Nour. I’m a Theoretical Physicist currently pursuing my master’s in London, and I’ll be hosting the sessions. I founded this book club in August 2020 after meeting a few people interested in Bernardo Kastrup’s work through a course with him that was running at the time with the psychedelic society. I am intrigued by questions in the Philosophy of Mind and desire to grapple with fundamental questions about the nature of reality and the meaning of life. I have found these lovely people to share my interests. I’m always looking forward to meeting new people and hearing new points of view.
