Huni Kuin ‘Centre of Memory’ Fundraiser Project

Some friends of ours have initiated a crowd funder campaign which we would love to support. The campaign is raising funds for an amazing project which involves the carrying out of essential work and upgrades to the infrastructure of a Huni Kuin village called São Joaquim (also know as Centro de Memoria / Centre of Memory).

The Huni Kuin are an indigenous tribe who live in the Amazon Rainforest. They have been under threat and have managed to survive often against great adversity, upholding their ancient traditions and deep connection to nature. In recent years, to continue to raise awareness of the urgency of the situation and to share their innate wisdom and knowledge of the forest, a number of Huni Kuin spiritual leaders have begun to travel around the world.

We are inviting participants of the EDB Spring Gathering to make donations to support this crowd funder campaign. You can choose to make a donation and how much when purchasing your ticket.

By purchasing a ticket to this event, you agree to respect and follow the Invitation, Intention and Guidelines for this event:

Invitation

Discover and be your uniqueness.

Connect with and be your authentic self.

Practice self-awareness, self-empowerment and self-expression.

Take responsibility for yourself, your belongings and your wellbeing.

Please ask a Space Angel at the event if you need support or help with anything.

Guidelines

Please follow our guidelines so we can create a safe, held and sacred space for ourselves and each other:

  • Be here: no outside shoes
  • Be free: dance how you want / no judgement
  • Be present: no phones / cameras
  • Be embodied: no talking
  • Be clear: no alcohol
  • Be consensual: respect & honour boundaries of others. If it's not a clear yes, it's a no
  • Respect yourself. Respect each other. Respect personal space of others.
  • Respect the venue. Respect the neighbourhood. Respect the land.

Intention

Whatever is moving within you; your light, your shadow and other aspects of self; it is all welcome to be transmuted on the dancefloor.

In the words of Gabrielle Roth, “Sweat your prayers, dance your pain” and let it move through you.

When we invite in prayer using our body, it can become our wisest teacher, showing us how to dance our innermost expression of life and soul; and revealing to us it's divine intelligence.

Let us honour the dance of the divine mystery of life.

I loved the space and that you do this on Sunday morning. It was my first time and I would have liked more orientation re: schedule on arriving, or in an email. The event began at 10.30 but it didn't. During the dancing, three people were chatting. I didn't think a microphone was needed for speaking, it is nicer to hear a natural voice. Otherwise, I really enjoyed dancing and plan to come back in future, thank you.
Ace Collectiv replied

— Hey Philippa. Thanks for your feedback. The schedule for the session is included in the ticket confirmation email. Doors open at 10:30 and we play warm up music between 10:30 and 11:00 for people to arrive and stretch. The Opening Circle begins at 11:00. We always announce the Ecstatic Dance guidelines at the Opening Circle which include that's it's a non verbal space during the journey, however, some people disrespect this guideline. We try our best to ask people to be quiet or go else where if they really need to chat. We use the microphone to make sure everyone can hear the facilitator because sometimes not everyone can hear when the microphone is not used. We hope this helps. Thank you for joining the session. We hope that you come and dance with us again. Gratitude, Team EDB

What a nourishing experience, I was feeling a bit introverted and wanted to experience the space in more of a gentle way. I loved to be able to relax on the sofas and absorb the incredible vocals, to pick some oracle cards and to then soak up the incredible Sound Bath. Thank you 🙏🏼
