Alice is a Dance Awake facilitator and co-founder of Ecstatic Dance Cornwall. She's been holding regular dances in Cornwall, bringing the dance medicine to the most southerly tip of the UK. We're very excited to welcome Alice for her EDB debut and she's very excited to join us too.

CEREMONY LEADER HILS CRISP 

Hils Crisp is an experienced and wise, heart circle facilitator, coach and long time conscious dancer. She holds a deep hearted and playful space. This Sunday we’ll be exploring the theme of love and connection to self and others; and the balance and interplay of the two.

Inspired by the carnival tradition, Honeyflower Sounds operate two uniquely designed, hand crafted sound systems, to bring a high grade listening and dancing experience to every gathering. For our Open Air dances we use the Pollen Tribe's latest creation: their snail shaped, Fibonacci spiral speakers - the first of their kind in the world. They have a sound like no other speakers. Come and listen to them for yourself to experience the true magic and power of these speakers.

HEALTH, SAFETY & WELLBEING

As an organised outdoor physical activity, our events are fully compliant with the latest government regulations and we have full permission from Bristol City Council and Avon & Somerset Police to run our Ecstatic Dance sessions on The Downs. Our sessions are covid-secure and respect social distancing measures.

We ask all participants to take responsibility for themselves; and to be sensitive, considerate and respectful of others. If you are experiencing any symptoms of covid-19 (check here: http://nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms) then please stay at home, rest and be well.

Before, during and after the session, please only gather closely with either people from the same household or people from the same bubble or in a group of maximum 6 people.

ECSTATIC DANCE

Ecstatic Dance is about self-expression through free-form dance and movement. It’s a movement meditation which brings together the awareness of mind, heart and body; authentically connecting with self and others.

Our events are family friendly. Everyone and all abilities are welcome. 

We use the following guidelines to create a safe, held and sacred space for you to express, expand and experience rejuvenation through movement, dance and sound:

- be here: no shoes
- be free: dance how you want / no judgement
- be present: no phones / cameras
- be clear: no intoxicants
- be embodied: no talking
- be consensual: respect boundaries / be aware of your own personal space and that of others

This scheme allows people who are financially comfortable, to pay towards the ticket of a dancer who is not so financially abundant. Every 1 x ‘Pay-It-Forward’ ticket bought, creates 1 x ‘Concession’ ticket. Please support this scheme if you’re able to.

- in case of heavy rain, the event will be postponed and your ticket will be transferable to a date of your choice

- by purchasing a ticket you agree that Ecstatic Dance Bristol is not liable for any injury you may incur at this class (dancing as you feel, on the grass outdoors) and you agree to take full responsibility for yourself, your belongings and your well-being. 

- our sessions are held in public park. We have signs to explain what we're doing and to ask other park users to not film us during the session. The EDB team has the responsibility to monitor this and to ask park users who are filming, to politely stop doing so.

The invitation with these sessions, is to show up, take ownership of what we’re doing and dance as a community on our land. Claim our space and claim our right to dance wherever we need to. Fear, discomfort or shame may arise, so let’s honour these feelings, let them move and let them go with the practice and power of DANCE! Let’s dance whatever it is we need to dance! All of it. The full spectrum of ourselves! It’s all welcome on the dance floor!
