Releasing your Voice through Movement and Play
14th November 2024, 18:45 - 20:00 | Wild Goose Space @ The Yard, Bristol
Facilitated by Camilla Mason
Together we will learn;
- Silly and playful ways to express the voice, body and creativity
- Create connections with others
- Open up creative freedom
“Serious art…is born from serious play” - Julia Cameron, The Artists Way
I believe that voice work doesn't need to be scary, serious, or performative. Common fears about singing or "sounding good" often prevent us from accessing our voice, creating further blockages and resistance. The stories and narratives we hold about our voice can sometimes stop us from experiencing the joy and connection it brings when we unite with this universal instrument we all possess. In the holistic and spiritual world, there is often a lot of seriousness surrounding voice work, which may unintentionally perpetuate the idea that we must always "sound good."
Who is this for?
- All genders, ages and backgrounds
- Anyone looking to enhance the power of their voice in a playful, non-judgemental space
- No singing, music or dance experience required
Inspired by improv theatre, play therapy, intuitive movement, and sound therapy techniques, this workshop is designed to create a joyful experience for people of all ages, genders and backgrounds. Play is a fundamental, powerful tool for healing and self-expression, and this space aims to break down barriers and ignite aspects of ourselves we might not have recognised before, using the power of our voices.
What people have said:
"Camilla’s relaxed and authentic energy makes it easy to show up as myself in her spaces. What I love is she’s not forced, you can tell this comes from her soul to yours. Queer and trans-inclusive." - Liane
“You demonstrated to me that with silence, stillness and internal visualisations, my creativity is always there, just beneath the surface, ready to be accessed. This was a valuable reminder that everything I need is already within me, if I can create this energy around my creative pursuits. This was a lightbulb moment - thank you!” - Seb
"Thank you so much for last night's gathering. I especially enjoyed the freestyle vocalising, instrumentalising, and movement section at the end. Before this, you offered directed exercises that invited us to be vulnerable, open hearted, bold, and playful. I loved all aspects, but especially this last section..." ~ anon
About your Facilitator
Whether you're searching for stress relief, self-discovery, or creative inspiration, I am devoted to supporting your journey towards a life filled with creative embodiment, harmony, and fulfilment.
I am a qualified Sound and Movement (Dip. SAMT) therapist from The British Academy of Sound Therapy, with a professional background in the performing arts and events industry. I started my career as an immersive performer, building on strengths in theatre, cabaret, immersive performance, clowning, and drag. However, holistic arts have always been my main driving force and personal journey of channelling healing through creativity.
I am currently training in Cognitive-Behavioural Hypnotherapy (Dip.CBH) while working as a Creative Support Worker with young children & adults at The West of England Music and Arts School, supporting the facilitation of Music Therapy workshops.
