Sikly Sweet Summer Beatbox workshop

Hi Y'all! 

 I'm pleased to announce Sikly Sweet Summer beatbox Workshop!

Let's join together in the rhythms of life once again 

 No experience necessary, everyone with lips, lungs, and a tongue can do it!

 All are welcome 

Please arrive between 5:45-6:00 PM, bring a water bottle.

What you can expect:
There will be an opening ceremony with land acknowledgement and an introduction to the art, culture, and practice of beatboxing.
We will all do breathing and fun-da-mentals together. Beginners will be guided to make strong fundamental sounds and simple beats. Intermediate folks will have a focus on grooving in jams with each other 

 you’ll get to work on easy combos and various basses 

Everyone will be offered time to get on the microphone! 

 If there is a particular sound you want to learn, reach out to me ahead of time so I can best prepare to instruct you on it.
This workshop is a space to play and experiment; Everyone will be supported in their learning in this inclusive and open environment 

Beatbox culture has continued to evolve in this decade as is still one of the fastest growing and evolving musical communities in the world right now, and one of the most incredible international communities out there: Music is the universal language, and beatboxing is learning to speak music, which is why this love can be shared with speakers of any language. Beatboxing has brought more engagement with music to my daily life than any other practice.

I have performed as a beatboxer for 7 years and have sung for 12. I have a degree in Music and computer science from UVic, and share my art as ORAVIᗺE.
Please bring a friend or invite anyone you think would be interested, and you will help manifest my vision.

Vision: Through beatboxing, cultivate familiarity, confidence, vibrancy and diversity in an all-ages community in Lekwungen (Songhees), Esquimalt (Xwsepsum, Wyomilth), and W̱SÁNEĆ territories (Victoria) and Vancouver Island to create and share love, art, passion, growth, and fun. This will be through workshops, jams, performances, lessons, and online community.
