WINTER SOLSTICE CEREMONY

A warm invitation to join us for a transformative ceremonial dance journey to welcome the powerful time of the Winter Solstice. 

As we consciously tune into the cycles of nature, we are reminded of the ever-changing flow of life and deepen our relationship with our own inner cycles. Winter’s wisdom gifts us a time of contemplation as we turn inwards - listening to the whispers within and connecting to the unbroken intelligence of life. 

Our ceremony weaves together the healing power of dance, singing, ritual and the heart-opening medicine of cacao. Infused with gentle guidance, soulful self-enquiry and evocative music - you will be part of a collective journey, fostering a sense of community, togetherness and co-creative synergy.

Rooted in deep intention we dance freely and unite in voice - opening the body, heart and mind to insight and inspiration. We embrace a greater sense of compassionate presence with ourselves, each other, and the wider web of life. Honouring the interconnectedness of all beings, we extend our love to all our relations - past, present and future.

Working with the Heart-Opening Medicine of Cacao:

To celebrate this special time of year, we will work with the powerful medicine of Cacao. Revered by our Central American ancestors as a health elixir and ceremonial medicine, Cacao has been used through the ages to support the healing of the mental, physical, and spiritual body. We will set our intentions and enjoy a beautifully prepared cup of ceremonial cacao sourced from ancient gardens in Peru.

Meet Your Facilitator, Mira Khanya:

Mira is a passionate advocate of movement as a transformative and healing practice. Her multidisciplinary background spans visual and performing arts, meditation, shamanic journeys, butoh, and therapeutic work, among other fields. As a dancer, therapist, and artist, Mira brings a wealth of experience to her craft, infusing each journey with creativity and depth. Her deep connection with dance led her to complete an apprenticeship and training program under the guidance of the founders of the School of Movement Medicine. Today, she not only serves as a mentor for the school and creates independent work but also collaborates with Medicine Festival, Ecstatic Dance UK & Bristol, Kaylo and other organisations - crafting immersive and meditative dance journeys.

Meet Our Special Guest, Api:

We are deeply honoured to experience Api's unique and exquisite medicine. As a ceremonial musician and multi-instrumentalist - her musical abilities comes together to create expressive, eclectic and soulful music. Her incredibly versatile voice, accompanied by several instruments and a loop pedal, invites a deepening connection and celebration of life. Api will offer her gifts and also guide us into a shared community moment - activating the power of our voices - united in song.

• Sunday 17 December
• Doors open: 12:30pm
• Arrival & Smudging: 12:30 -12:55pm
• Ceremony: 1-5pm

Venue:

• Core Clapton, 161 Northwold Rd, Hackney, London E5 8RL
• Travel: Clapton Overground station followed by a 5min walk

Booking notes:

• If you consider yourself a high earner, paying a supporter fee helps to subsidise further reduced places. Thank you for your support.

Cancellation Policy:

• Tickets are not refundable but transferable to another person.
• Please email details of the name change and their email address to mirakhanya@gmail.com and organise finances between yourselves.

Paying It Forward:

• A percentage of the profit will go towards charitable projects around the globe - which contributes towards fundraising for the Summer Long Dance 2024.
