Come together for monthly sacred evenings of singing Kirtan. This will be a joyful, informal and connecting event to support us in ‘unfurling our hearts’ as we sing and chant in the style of call and response.
Kirtan is a devotional practice involving the call and response of mantras and sacred songs that help to uplift the mind, open the heart, and encourage inner peace. It's a simple, direct and joyful way to help create inner calm, connection and loving feelings, and can be a powerful tool to transform the way we think and feel about ourselves and how we perceive the world.
It can support us in this feeling of ‘coming home’ to ourselves, and a remembering of what might be hidden but always there. For me, it is a beautiful way to honour the times I had in India, and to feel the grace and love of the Hindu Gods and Goddesses that I have been touched by.
You don't need to know anything about this type of music, or to be able to sing, this is accessible to everyone! We all have a voice and a beating heart, and to me, despite the strong lineage and culture, I feel it is universal.

- Singing together synchronises the heartbeats of those with you, creating deep connection, unity and harmony
- Can assist you in connecting to the divine within you
- Can put you into a meditative state for more receptivity and calm
- Purifies your feelings and emotions from negative into more positive states
- Helps to bring about an opening, a shift or a release from any stuck energy or thought pattern
- Creates a feeling of ‘bringing yourself back home’
- Helping you to move into your truest, natural state of bliss (your aligned or ‘higher self’)

This music will be accompanied with my harmonium, as I sing to you, and you repeat back to me! I try to choose simple ones that can be easily followed. I am always happy to bring other people into this event, so do get in touch if you would like to collaborate!
Please bring a cushion and anything you would like to add to the central altar space. There will be chairs for those that prefer not to sit on the floor!
