Subscribe to Ace Collectiv

Hey dear community,

Thank you to everyone who joined my last session as Community Leader of Ecstatic Dance Bristol (EDB) last Sunday. It was a really special session with some team and community members sharing gratitude at the Closing Circle. It brought tears to my eyes to hear of how for some people EDB has been so life changing. It reminds me that coming together intentionally with the amazing wellbeing practice of Ecstatic Dance is so vital for the health, wellbeing and evolution of ourselves and our communities. Long may it continue.

So what will I be doing next? With a team, I'm organically building an umbrella organisation called Ace Collectiv. As well as EDB, Ace Collectiv is connected to and working on some other exciting projects this year such as; Downtown Village (Boomtown), The Shala (Medicine Festival) and other events with groups from around the world ~ Roça de Ogum, the Huni Kuin and the Yawanawá. In the Autumn we're planning to launch Nu Era Rave / Nu Queer Rave ~ day time, alcohol-free, queer friendly, mini festivals in some epic Bristol venues. Watch this space. Check and follow our Dandelion landing page and Instagram: Ace Collectiv / linktr.ee/acecollectiv

EDB will return on Sundays from the beginning of September (Sun 3 Sep) and we have some exciting international and our favourite resident DJs already booked in (September's lineup will be announced in the coming months).

Also before we take a break for the Summer, we're welcoming Sonia Costa and Roça de Ogum to Bristol again, who are on tour all the way from São Paulo, Brazil. They will be offering a Yaba's Gira ~ a traditional Afro-Brazilian Umbanda Gira workshop and ceremony (joined by Deya CacaoAmor) with Cacao, songs, dance, drumming, myth sharing and more. More info below.

Yabá's Gira: Umbanda Workshop & Ceremony w/ Cacao
Sonia Costa, Roça de Ogum (São Paulo, Brazil) & Deya CacaoAmor

We're very happy that Sonia Costa and her team are returning to the UK. They're holding an Umbanda workshop and ceremony with cacao in Bristol (joined by Deya CacaoAmor) and there's an opportunity to take the work deeper the weekend after in Devon (please get in touch for more details and to apply for this retreat).

They will be offering a Yaba's Gira ~ a traditional Afro-Brazilian Umbanda Gira workshop and ceremony with Cacao, songs, dance, drumming, myth sharing and more✨

The word Yabá means ‘Great Mother’. It's how the feminine Orixás in the Afro-Brazilian traditions are referred to. The Gira is one of the main sacred rituals of the Umbanda and is a spiritual space where the connection to spiritual guides is opened up✨

Deya CacaoAmor will be sourcing, making and serving Ecuadorian cacao for this beautiful event✨

Sat 24 June
14:30 - 20:00
86 Bedminster Parade, Bristol, BS3 4HL
