Hi there,

What does it really mean to be in an altered state of consciousness? Psychological literature defines it as “the subjective feeling and explicit recognition that one’s own subjective experience has changed.”

There are many ways to disrupt the normal subjective experience. Ingesting psychedelic substances is one of them, but there’s a plethora of techniques and practices that can shift our emotional and sensory landscape. Sometimes there’s a temporary yet potent change in our energy and perception, like an experience on ayahuasca, strong breathwork, or a darkness retreat. Sometimes the immediate shift is very mild, but with prolonged practice we notice these subtle changes remain in our everyday experience of being.

At the Psychedelic Society, we aim to support people to explore their consciousness, no matter how big or small their endeavours. We offer integration circles for people who have larger trips, as well as courses and events designed to spark insight and teach skills to help us navigate our own conscious lens.

Our upcoming Art of Breathwork course will teach you all about how to use the Breath as an instrument to regulate nervous system states, change ordinary perception, and relate to self and others with greater awareness. Our monthly Introduction to Bohm dialogue circles in London aim to shift our pre-built internal judgments and move from a landscape of individuality to collective consciousness. We’re also excited about our new IFS and Psychedelics online event, which will teach you about shifting awareness between different “parts” of ourselves.

Here’s a look at what we else got in store:
