El Herndlhofer
(they/them)
El is a fierce lover of the land and the waters. They love to forage, to cook nourishing food, to sing, dance, swim, play and create in communities, both human and more-than-human. El has been involved in activism and community organising on behalf of climate, ecological and social justice since 2019. They have been facilitating and guiding land-based ceremony, collaborative learning, and creative collective processes for a number of years. In 2023, they completed a masters exploring the intersections of ecological thinking, embodied practice and environmental philosophy, and are excited to be offering this learning back into the collective, in particular among young people.
El is passionate about centring principles of sustainable education in their work, which celebrate each person as having something valuable to teach and to learn; with their own unique gifts to bring to the wider whole. In addition, they are keen to contribute to processes of democratising vital knowledge and skills which re-member human beings back into participation with the wider web of life, and support appropriate and meaningful pathways for us to respond within contexts of uncertainty and precarity. They acknowledge the precious role of joy, play and imagination in crafting new ways for our being together on earth, as well as the role of grief and sorrow which these times call us to be present with.
