As an ecologist, artist, and educator, Ariel strives to create a future where humans and the more-than-human world thrive. A more just, more aligned, more thriving, more loving world that is resilient, healthy, and joyful.
A central piece of this work is helping people heal their emotional and spiritual wounds from living through this time of ecological and climate crisis. She does this through interdisciplinary workshops that highlight some of the most powerful ideas and practices she has experienced over the years. She draws on ecology, psychology, ethics, mindfulness and meditation, somatic experience, Buddhism, activism, and justice. Ariel offer these workshops in a variety of formats including a 12-week offering, Empowering Ourselves and Others in a Changing Climate.
These days, Ariel teaches interdisciplinary ecological courses at Champlain College, where her students explore interwoven topics like science literacy; environmental history, science, justice, and policy; art; government; economics; history; social change; ethics; and ourselves. Ariel is also working on her doctorate in ecopsychology and environmental humanities.
In the past, Ariel has worked on land and species conservation and as a fine artist. She has developed curriculums and shared them with people of all ages. Her bachelor’s degree is in environmental studies and studio art, and my master’s degree is in international environmental policy. She am an Environmental Leadership senior fellow, is a trained Climate Reality Leader, and member of the EcoCultureLab.
