What emerges when we are pushed to our limits and what becomes possible, when life demands transformation?

We invite you to the Saturday evening of art, reflections and integrating practices on memory, trauma, and power of resilience.

Life to the Limit is a movie by a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war  Pavlo Peleshok (Ukraine). The movie invites us to the story from the Revolution of Dignity to full-scale war. Successful Ukrainian film producers took up arms to defend the country and cameras to record the gruesome reality. From the fragments of memories and their own film archive, veterans Pavlo and Yurko assemble a mosaic of the causes and consequences of today's Russian-Ukrainian war - from the end of 2013 to today.

The authors went to the front as volunteers, visited the hotspots of Donbas, created the home-made drone "Furia", which is now named after one of the best air reconnaissance units. And all this time they continued to create in order to show the world the truth about the terrible war that became possible in the 21st century.

Join us for a powerful afternoon of ethnographic cinema from Ukraine & deep discussion with visiting filmmaker from Kyiv Tetiana Staneva. In conversation with Stockholm’s community of change-makers at Lakefront, we’ll explore:

  • What becomes possible — and what becomes essential, when life itself demands transformation?
  • What are the sources to make limited and unlimited choices?
  • How within the conditions of ultimate questions, can the need for deep meanings and capacity of agency be born?

WHAT IS OKO NORDIC?

The Life to the Limit event is realised as part of the series OKO Stockholm: Voices of Ukraine, initiated by the Gergina Foundation and co-missioners. Please check the main page for Information on other events in the period Nov 27-30, 2025.

OKO means “EYE” in Ukrainian.

The films, blending art and anthropology, are a selection from the OKO International Ethnographic Film Festival, born in Bessarabia, Ukraine, in 2020, as a bridge between cultures and a tool for information resistance.
The screenings are part of a broader experiential format.

Next to exchange with visiting ethnographers, filmmakers and artists, for those willing, there will also be an invitation and chance to practice connection and presence. Through various action methods, each event is designed to help us step out of the ordinary and toward solidarity and co-accountability.
