Archetypes of the Feminine Free Masterclass

Ancient myths worldwide teach us that every woman contains a multitude of selves: the wonder-filled Maiden, the fierce Warrior, the sensual Lover, the sovereign Queen, and the mystical Priestess. Each one is essential for a woman to experience her wholeness and wildness and acts as a map to understand the light and shadow within ourselves.

Blending mythic storytelling, stories from her own life, and embodied exploration Gaia invites you to join her for an evening of diving into the mythic realms of the unconscious, and emerging with a roadmap of how to work with them in your life.

To whet your whistle here is a summary of the archetypes - which of them do you see yourself in?

The Maiden - The maiden’s gifts teach us the power of innocence - the untainted part of us connected to play, joy and spontaneity. She teaches us to see the wonder in the everyday and stay connected to lightness and the good in the world. Her shadow aspect sees her caught in victim mentality, people pleasing and inertia. She is disconnected from who she is and what she wants, and often goes along with others to the detriment of herself.

The Warrior - The warrior’s gifts are strength, clarity and direction. She is the inner protector and helps us to stand up for ourselves with loving firmness. We call on the warrior to support us out of the shadow maiden. The warrior’s shadow counterpart can be aggressive, competitive and harsh. Her protection may be keeping us numb, cause us to lash out, or trapped in cycles of over achieving to prove ourselves.

The Lover - The lover’s gifts lie in pleasure, creativity and presence. She knows she is worthy of recieving love and experiencing pleasure, and does so by being intimately connected with her body, and natural world. Her connection to feeling is the antidote to numbness, and her pursuit of pleasure takes us away from productivity and into presence. Her shadow form can be self-obsessed or manipulative - using her sexual prowess to control others. Seeking to fill an aching hole of deficiency she may experience shame and unworthiness leading to forms of escapism such as addiction.

The Queen - The queen’s gifts come in the form of soulful service and leadership. She knows what her gifts are, and has learned how to offer this to the world from the heart. Her self worth and clarity of purpose fill the hole from the inside out. She sees the gifts in others and is a natural cheerleader, knowing how to use her power to empower others. Her shadow side can be jealous, tyrannical and manipulative. She sees others success and feels a sense of not-enoughness which leads her to put others down to get ahead. 

The Priestess - The priestess’s gifts are intuition, peace and connection to the great beyond. She has carved out a quiet and still sanctuary at the centre of her being, regardless of how stormy her environment is. Her insight and wisdom is guided by tapping into the mysterious current of life that infuses all things. Her shadow aspects can see her retreating from the world rather than being an active participant, bypassing emotions, and becoming ungrounded from reality, unable to engage in the daily tasks of carry water, chop wood.
