The traditional start-up incubation and funding model doesn’t work – at least not for 92% of all start-ups. This 92% include businesses with marvellous potential: companies headed by founders from a diverse array of racial, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds; net-positive enterprises that are creating incredible wealth along with much needed social and environmental regenerative outcomes; and even profoundly disruptive ventures that inspire us to see how much better society and the economy can be when we don’t follow the traditional entrepreneurial playbook and create the optimal conditions for innovation.
In a stark contrast to the modus operandi that the finance and VC worlds would have us adhere to, there are systematically superior ways of building businesses and funding them. In his new book, The Ergodic Investor and Entrepreneur, based on over a decade of profound research and application of cutting edge solutions in the fields of leadership, economics, and personal development, Graham Boyd helps us understand some of these superior ways and walks with us through real examples of how globally renowned founders, CEOs, and pioneering entrepreneurs have put them to use.
In this program, Evolutesix’s Stefan Fiedler Alvarado welcomes Graham to discuss novel and promising ways of starting up and funding business ecosystems, from FairShares Commons to ergodic investing strategies and more. We will also discuss ways that entrepreneurs and investors can use to determine how each of these structures can contribute to their entrepreneurial, investing, and impact journeys. This way, we can shift the conversation about starting up and funding new ventures into one with a baseline of prosperous regenerative outcomes.
