About the Wild Food Foraging Experience

When you look at a wild plant do you know if it is death or dinner? Whether it is medicine, or food, maybe something that might be used in soap or cosmetics? Do you know some of the crazy and fascinating folklore surrounding wild plants and mushrooms, not to mention a lot of dubious misinformation? Come on a walk with Thomas Radford (from the hilarious @eatthecountry channel) and learn about the food growing all around us, feel empowered by knowing what to avoid while having a laugh! Thomas firmly believes  that laughter and engagement are the path to good learning.

Why Come to This Workshop?

1. Watch nature come to life when you understand the value of everyday plants.

There are so many wild plants that can add nutrition and variation to your diet, things we used to call weeds.

  • Edible plants & Fungi: When you know what is edible you have a larder on your doorstep that you know his healthy, unprocessed and natural.
  • Medicinal plants: Simple remedies for things like stings, headaches, urinary infections, even hay fever can be found in most hedgerows.
  • History and folklore: Learn about how our ancestors interpreted and revered certain plants and fungi, the truth, the myths and the deep connection with nature.
  • Simple recipes: Learn one or two simple techniques to cook, eat and drink wild food.
  • Responsible foraging: Learn the rules, how much to forage, where you can do this, and know that you have rights you may not have realised.

Next time you go for a walk you’ll find a whole world of knowledge and ideas opening up and see familiar plants all around you.

Why Attend?

  • Hands-On Learning: Gain practical skills in plant identification with expert guidance.
  • Entertainment: This course is light-hearted and funny, humour and stories are the best way to make learning more powerful and enjoyable.
  • A new respect for nature: Understand how to work with nature and not against it, as our ancestors did, and how to forage responsibly and legally.
  • Become an ambassador for healthy eating: Take the knowledge away with you and pass it on, and help others to find and eat good, nutritious, wild food.

This workshop is great of anyone who wants to develop a new skill, reconnect with nature, and meet like-minded people.
