Porcini, chanterelle, parasol, chicken of the woods, puffball, oyster… Wild mushrooms are famously prized for their delicate and complex flavors. In good years and especially in the autumn, the woods of Germany explode with an extraordinary bounty of edible delights. Those in the know can find kilos of delicious fungi almost right outside their front doors. Yet, as is well-known, when it comes to mushrooms it takes knowledge and experience to distinguish the delectable from the deadly!

Join nature guide Simka (they/them) for an autumn adventure to the magical blue waters of Liepnitzsee and its stunning surrounding forest and many hidden lakes, where we will soak up the stunning nature and get acquainted with the common and delicious edible mushrooms growing in this area – no experience necessary.

Together we'll explore the forest floor and learn the basics of how to find, identify, collect, and prepare the wild edible mushrooms that are currently in season. Here you will learn which mushrooms to stay away from – and how to get confident enough to bring your own harvest home.

At the banks of a serene forest lake, away from the city hustle and bustle, we will enjoy a picnic including some delicious homemade foraged snacks made by Simka, so you can discover the incredible range of foraged flavors!

During the tour, we'll make our way through stunning forest and lakeside scenery, where we will have plenty of time to relax, explore, and take in the surroundings. And of course we'll pause for ample opportunity to swim in the wonderful clear waters of Liepnitzsee itself, if the October weather allows for it!

When: Saturday October 21st, 10:50 - 16:30
Where: Liepnitzsee (~ 7km walking in total)
Cost: Sliding scale 50€ / 38€ / 25€ or pay what you can – includes a foraged picnic

Attendance is limited to 12 people, so registration is required!

Don't forget to read the confirmation email carefully for all information on the meeting point and what to bring.

A note on pricing & philosophy:

This tour is worth well over 50€. I'm offering my foraging tours this season on a sliding scale / pay-what-you-can basis, because it's a deep value of mine that this learning – which radically connects us with ourselves, the land, and one another – should be accessible for everyone.

However, I do rely on this income!

That means: if you have the means, pay the full fee, or more.

If you don't have the means, please feel fully invited to pay whatever you can.

And if you want to come, but genuinely cannot afford any extra expense, reach out to me directly for a 100% discount. Warmly welcomed and no questions asked. I have absolutely been there, I see you, and I want you here.

I'm trying to do things differently, because it matters to me. Please join me in the complexity of building a better, more equal world!

It was super well moderated, from the initial grounding exercise, to the practical tips on identifying edible plants (and not their poisonous doppelgängers). The bread and pesto at the end of the workshop was absolutely delightful, too. The experience was so much more inspiring and joyful than what I was expecting!

Simka's excitement and love for foraging is deeply contagious. We had such a fun time learning from them, always on the look for the next plan to show us. Four hours felt like a whole day and you'll leave with a mind filled with knowledge and a belly full of delicious homemade wild plants pesto. I appreciated the emphasis put on conscious foraging and experienced more than I hoped for. Overall wonderfull workshop!

The guide was very knowledgable and shared a lot of information about mushrooms. We learned how to differentiate species and identify toxic and edible mushrooms. It was my first time foraging and I really enjoyed it. I would recommended the tour for everyone who likes to be in the nature and exploring.
