Create your own strand of hand-printed intention flags.
Join us for a gentle, creative afternoon of connection and printmaking. This workshop is open to everyone - whether you're new to lino printing or have experience; whether you're here for the craft or to be in creative flow.
We begin with the option of a seasonal herbal drink made using plants growing on local land - likely nettles, known for their vitality and strength. You're invited to enjoy a short guided meditation to ground into your creative space, or you're welcome to sit quietly and consider what you'd like to bring into the session.
Beginners will be supported through the fundamentals of lino carving and printing, while those with experience can explore reduction printing or more intricate designs. After making some paper art prints, we'll move into block printing onto fabric.
We will look at sacred flags from around the world, exploring visual language, symbolism, and meaning. You'll then design your own lino block - whether that's representing a symbol, an image from nature, an abstract pattern, or something personal and expressive to you.
Finally, you'll thread your flags together using beautiful yarn, with minimal stitching needed. There'll be time (as it allows) to embellish your flags with thread, beads, or paint.
We'll close the session together, sharing space and what we've made. You will leave with your own strand of intention flags to hang in your home or garden - filled with your energy, creativity, and care.
You'll be gently guided throughout the session by Laurel Rose, an artist with a long practice in lino printing and teaching experience in art college and community spaces. Laurel is trained in space-holding & herbal medicines with a respected plant medicine teacher, and brings a grounded, welcoming energy to the space.
No experience needed. All materials provided. Bring yourself, an intention (if you wish), and any reference images you may like to carve (though many will be provided).
