Music provides a source of healing for many of us during our lives and is used in this way throughout the world in countless cultures and traditions.

Similarly within a psychedelic context, music has always played a key role, with artists such as The Beatles, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix leading the way back in the 1960s when LSD use was at its height, bringing about an influx of new psychedelic music genres.

But now, as ‘The Psychedelic Renaissance’ gathers pace, we are beginning to understand in a whole new light the power of so-called ‘set and setting’ to help shape the psychedelic experience. That is to say, we are discovering that the environment we are in when embarking on a psychedelic journey can aid and direct our experience - and this has exciting potential for the future therapeutic use of psychedelic medicine.

The event will include a talk from Wavepaths Founder, Mendel Kaelen, followed by a Q&A during which the audience will have the opportunity to ask their questions. Then Mendel will lead a very special 40 minute deep-listening session using the latest technology and learnings from Wavepaths. For this to work most effectively, we advise that you have a stable internet connection for the webinar.

SPEAKER

Mendel Kaelen

Mendel Kaelen is the founder and CEO of Wavepaths. Prior to this, he worked as a PhD and postdoctoral neuroscientist at Imperial College London for 7 years, where his research was the first to demonstrate music’s central role in psychedelic therapies. He developed methods and protocols for the use of music to enhance therapy outcomes and out of this, the vision for Wavepaths. He is a thought leader on the therapeutic use of music and publishes and speaks frequently on this topic. He has been featured in Nature News, San Francisco Chronicles, Vice Motherboard, Rolling Stone and TEDx. Mendel’s work is driven heavily by his personal work with psychedelic medicines and psychotherapies that started 15 years ago. He  lives and works in London (UK), and in his spare time likes to get into nature, and to get out of his mind with his Shakuhachi and modular synthesiser.
