Foraging walk for wild edible and medicinal plants with Maria from Healing Weeds

*

Join us for an autumn foraging walk to find out how many wild edible and medicinal plants grow around us.

We'll take a slow amble around the sacred land of College Green, Bristol Cathedral and Brandon Hill to explore the touch, taste and smell of wild edible and medicinal plants.

We'll learn how to distinguish between poisonous look-a-likes and sharpen our identification skills of some of our most common wild foods.

There'll be plenty of time to ask questions, debunk myths and gain a fresh perspective on how to find and use plants growing around you.

Towards the end, we'll also brew a herbal tea with what we've found, weaving our new knowledge into practical skills to try at home!

Maria Fernandez Garcia is the founder of Healing Weeds, a foraging school created for people to re-learn about the wild food and medicine growing all around them. As a Right to Roam campaigner and outdoors educator, she highlights our sense of disconnection with nature as a direct result of our physical severance from the land.

Maria reconnects us with a sense of belonging, reimagined culture and collective action for what is all of ours to fight for.

Client Reviews

"Splendid walk on Purdown. Fourth time out with Maria--- and I always learn something new, even when we encounter plants that I thought were familiars. Followed up with making a batch of plantain balsam!"

"The foraging walk in Conham river park with Maria was super enjoyable and inspiring. She shared some of her knowledge for local plants and their use but most importantly her curiosity and enthusiasm. I have been looking out for plants on all my walk ever since, what a beautiful gift!"

"Very much enjoyed our afternoon with Maria at Conham River Park. I learned so much about the plants we came across and their properties. It really inspired me to learn more and the resources she sent afterwards were very helpful."
