PsySoc Social: Special Guest from PAR & Psychedelics Storytelling

This month, we're over-excited to welcome our special guest Tara Austin from PAR (Psilocybin Access Rights) who will share her personal story alongside insights on the latest developments in psychedelic policy and advocacy.
Whether you're deeply engaged in the psychedelic space or simply curious, this is a great opportunity to gain insights from a leading voice in the movement, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Talk followed by Q&A from Tara Austin: Tara is looking forward to sharing her insights on the evolving landscape of psilocybin access and how individuals can help change government policy, whilst emphasising responsible use and the potential of these powerful compounds to contribute to a healthier, more connected future. She looks forward to a dynamic and collaborative discussion with the community.
Psychedelics Storytelling: this is becoming a must for our monthly socials. There will be the opportunity for all of us to share our psychedelic stories - the weird, the tricky and the downright wonderful. This part of the evening will be open-mic style and we will have a sign-up sheet to add your name to the list of storytellers. Your stories should be no more than 5 minutes and there's no need to rehearse what to say or come particularly prepared - often the best stories are told off-the-cuff and from the heart!
A Beautiful Psychedelic Community: Get access to our wonderful community coalescing around all things fungi. Many people at our socials have become life-long friends. Most of our members come alone, this is a safe and welcoming space for everyone, no matter your age, sexuality, background, gender, ethnicity or nationality. Fungi know no boundaries, which is the ethos we bring to our socials.
Delicious Food and Drink: Indulge in the mouthwatering plant-based offerings at Love Shack, where creativity extends to the kitchen. Their menu features delicious, sustainably sourced dishes and drinks crafted to nourish the body and delight the senses. It’s the perfect accompaniment to an evening of artistic exploration.

A passionate advocate for psilocybin access as a civil right, Tara Austin co-founded PAR (the Campaign for Psilocybin Access Rights) in 2021. Since then, she's spearheaded initiatives including a government petition with over 11,000 signatures to reschedule psilocybin for research and medical use, helped deliver more than 60,000 leaflets to key constituencies, launched a postcard campaign to lobby hundreds of MPs, and created the UK's first psychedelic ad campaign. Her work is fueled by a deep belief in psilocybin's healing potential.
Beyond her advocacy work, Tara is a Partner in Ogilvy Consulting's Behavioural Science Practice and a host of Nudgestock, the world's largest festival of behavioural science and creativity. She believes her "dayjob" provides her with a unique perspective on the intersection of psychology, human behaviour, and the potential of psychedelics for harm reduction and positive influence over individual and collective well-being.
