Imagine women’s circle meets ecstatic dance meets silent disco meets nature connection..this is it.. and on the beautiful dance floor/wild lands of Dartmoor!
✨ we know the divine magic and healing that women coming together creates. Let’s call it in.
✨ we know the divine beauty and belonging that exists within our wider body of Nature. Let’s gather there.
✨ we know the divine wisdom our bodies hold, and how our bodies love to move. Let’s invite that.
🌕 Harvest Full Moon 🌕
We'll be gathering the day before the full moon, also known as the Harvest Moon, offering the opportunity to connect to gratitude and abundance, to reflect back and gently transition from the extroverted energy of the Summer to the more introspective time of Autumn and Winter.
💛 This could be our last dance of the season depending on the weather, so if you've been wanting to come join us, this might be your last opportunity this year.
💚 These Women's Nature Dances are evolving, and this time the plant medicine offering will be included in the ticket price so we can all drop in with the medicine and journey together.
♥️ Delighted to have India joining us, offering a moment and experience of connection with Hawthorn, a magical tree native to these lands, who offers up deep heart medicine in the form of her berries and flowers. India will be sharing a lovingly prepared and locally foraged hawthorn berry tea and elixir to support our connection with this tree, and lead a short gentle meditation to open our hearts to receiving her gifts.
Some words from India, “I am honoured to be joining Michelle in this dance and sharing my love of the trees and plants of this land. I am a humble student of the plant kin of this earth , and I continue to learn new ways that I can weave herbal medicine and flower healing into my work as a birth doula, grief tender and ceremonialist. I believe the plant beings have so much to offer us and are delighted every time we turn to them with open hearts, ready to listen”.
Visit India's social media and website to find out more about India's beautiful work and offerings.
💃 If you'd like to be kept in the loop of future Women's Nature Dances, I invite you to join the Women's Nature Dance Whatsapp group - admin only posts.
These events are for women, trans women and non-binary people (AFAB).
The flow
Arrive - by 4pm at car park
Walk leaves meeting point - 4:15pm
Opening circle with Hawthorn offering - 5pm
Dance begins - 5:30pm
Dance finishes - 7:30pm
After the dance - up to you, you may wish to pack a head torch and stay out to watch the moon rise, sleep out under the stars, or simply follow the same path back to your car.
~ aside from when we open and close the space, this will mostly be a non-verbal space so we can drop into our bodies and our wider body of Nature
~ the dance journey itself will be around 1hr 40 mins
~ maybe you’d like to extend your Dartmoor time and camp out, it’s a beautiful spot for both sunset and sunrise!
The practicals
This dance is with silent disco headphones which are provided and come with their own individual volume control. This enables us to enjoy the beautiful wild Dartmoor landscape without disturbing the natural environment or others walkers.
🚗 Parking - Bonehill Rocks car park, 15 mins from Ashburton. There are 3 car parks at Bonehill Rocks and a few grass verge spaces so there are options but not lots, so please do try to lift share as much as possible.
🌿 Dartmoor Dance Floor - 25-35 mins walk from car parks, exact location will be shared upon booking. I’ll meet you at dance location. The walk includes some up/downhill but not overly steep for long - our reward is expansive views with fewer walkers :)
👣 Walk options - Please give yourself plenty of time to park, walk and land at dance location by 5pm for our opening circle together. Further details for each of the below will be shared upon booking:
- You may wish to make your own way - perhaps walk earlier, enjoy a picnic nearby. Maps pin for dance spot will be shared upon booking to support this.
- You may prefer to walk with others and be guided - at 4:15pm a designated person will be walking from a meeting point, maps pin shared upon booking.
📞 Heads up no/limited phone signal at first two Bonehill car parks, usually signal at third car park and dance location (this is true for me with Vodafone).
What to bring/wear
- Comfy clothes for walking and dancing
- Plenty of water
- Snacks
- Suncream, warm layers for unpredictable Dartmoor weather
- Please bring a cup/mug with you for your Hawthorn berry tea.
- If you’d like to:
- Something for the alter space
- Maybe an offering for the land to give thanks
- Your intention for your dance
Timings
Please note timings are an indicator only and may vary slightly due to the variable nature of being outdoors. Often it can take time to land and settle in an outdoor environment. It's super helpful if people arrive on time and gather quickly when called to begin. Whilst I'll do my best to stay on schedule, I appreciate your patience if things run a bit later than expected. Thank you for your understanding!
Weather
To be together outdoors in good weather is a JOY, and whilst we pray for this, ultimately we’re in the UK and can’t guarantee the weather. Also the weather in Dartmoor is particularly unpredictable. If weather forecast includes possibility of light rain we will go ahead. If forecast is heavy rain, and it is deemed too wet and/or too windy, an alternative location might be organised or the event postponed. I thank you in advance for your understanding.
Health & Safety
Please note that by booking a ticket for this event you acknowledge you accept full responsibility for your personal health and safety throughout this event, including the walk there/back and the dance itself.
Refund Policy
Please note tickets are non-refundable unless the dance is cancelled or postponed. In the event of a postponement, you will have the option to either keep your ticket for the rescheduled date or a future Women’s Nature Dance. If you can no longer make the dance, tickets are transferable and can be sold or passed on to someone else.
If you'd love to come but don't currently have the financial flow to afford to, please message me directly and let's discuss other possible exchange options.
A bit about your facilitator
As an experienced space holder, breathwork facilitator, ceremonialist, grief tender and artist, Michelle holds a variety of offerings and ceremonies, often with ritual, song and poetry woven throughout in reverence to this one wild and precious life, and as an invitation to gather together in community; whether that be to breathe, to grieve, to dance, to share in circle, or to mark the change of seasons.
Michelle holds 121 and group breathwork ceremonies, a variety of grief ceremonies, women’s nature dances in Dartmoor, is the host and ceremonialist of the Totnes Wheel of the Year Collective holding seasonal ceremonies in South Devon throughout the year, and sometimes performer, sharing her poetry and musical offerings at such fireside gatherings as these seasonal ceremonies.
