HERBAL MEDICINE FOR GRIEF WORKSHOP

As the Autumn unfolds, you are invited to come and spend the afternoon on the beautiful land of The Hearth

Retreat Centre, where you will learn some of the many ways that herbal medicine can support the

mind, body and soul during times of grief.

We are living in intense times, which can sometimes make being a human feel like a tough experience. The combination of personal and collective grief that we all experience at different points in our lives can have detrimental impact on our tender hearts and bodies, however, we live upon an earth who is abundant with herbal medicines to support these challenging times. My intention in holding this workshop is to share several simple ways that we can resource ourselves and our communities during a time of grief. Sometimes a small act of self care can create the shift we need to feel more hopeful in a challenging time.

During this workshop I shall introduce you to several herbs who have a strong affinity with healing the heart. We shall learn about the properties of these herbs, and make several preparations with them, including: A hawthorn heart elixir and a rose balm. Both of which you will be able to take home with you.

During the second part of the afternoon I shall introduce you to the craft of making a bundle; learning how this craft can be a supportive anchor during times of grief. You will have the chance to go out on the land, connecting with the earth to gather items to craft a bundle, and spend time in the yurt sewing your own grief bundle.

The workshop shall finish at 4pm.

Who is this workshop for?

Anyone who is curious to learn how herbs can play an important role in tending to our hearts during challenging times.

Who is this workshop not for ?

If you are currently experiencing acute grief in your life, then this workshop is not for you as I am not holding it as a grief tending space, therefore cannot offer the deep support that you need, if you are reading this and are in that place right now, then I sincerely hope that you can find the support you need.

There is a difference between experiencing a low level grief with aspects of life and experiencing the deep sorrow of acute grief ( such as the recent death of a loved one), if you feel you are in the former then this workshop would be a great way to learn how to resource yourself during the general ups and downs of life.

If you would like to come but are unsure if it is right for you then do reach out and we can discuss this.

A note on the cost of a place

The cost of your place includes covering the cost of the venue and all the materials and resources to make the herbal preparations during the workshop. Thank you for understanding. If you are experiencing serious financial difficulties but would still like to come, then do reach out to me.

Who am I ?

My name is India Elyn and I tend to thresholds of birth and loss through the ancient ways of herbal medicine, craft and ritual. I stepped on the path of herbal medicine 8 years ago when I began an apprenticeship with the medical herbalist and medicine woman Carole Guyett in Ireland. Over many years I learnt how to connect to the plants by making herbal medicines, connectiong to the plant spirits and learning the art of ceremony. My path has taken me across many countries where I have continuously been an apprentice to the plants, I am always learning.

My own experiences of death and grief over the last 10 years have given me the depth of learning what it means to be in deep sorrow and then come out of the other side. I learnt to lean on the earth , the trees and the plants for support; remembering how death is part of life and by cultivating an acceptance of this reality, I have come to experience the richness of life.

Please send me an email if you have any questions.
