ABOUT GRIEF TENDING:

Grief isn't just about losing a loved one. It's any kind of loss. We can feel grief for the loss of our wildlife and natural habitats, loss of our culture and community.

We can feel grief for the parts of our soul that are exiled or hidden in our shadow. We can grieve for all that we needed and deserved in our lives, but did not receive.

Grief, rage, despair and sorrow, are all emotions that are too often buried or suppressed. They are not welcomed because they are seen as negative or dark. But in truth, they are a completely natural response to this human condition.

Grieving together in ceremony and as a community is a rare occasion in our culture. More commonly we isolate ourselves and grieve alone because we don’t want to be a burden.

We can struggle to witness another person’s grief (and rage), because it activates our own emotions and that feels uncomfortable. How many times have we heard or said the words “don’t cry”?

My understanding of trauma (any event that causes a shock or jolt to the system), is that it becomes embedded, and causes long-term suffering, when we have not been witnessed, loved and supported through the pain.

The beauty of grief tending ceremonies is that we witness, and are witnessed, by others. We can revisit those parts of ourselves that hold pain because it is safe to. There is a sense of togetherness and belonging, and an energy of love, compassion and acceptance.

We are encouraged and supported to go into a fully embodied healing process by the beating of drums and the singing of mantra. We get to cry, wail, shake, scream and truly release what needs to be released. We get to hold each other through the pain, with no words necessary.

As the ceremony progresses the energy in the room lifts. Following a deep dive into our individual and collective grief, we truly alchemise our pain and we eventually reach elation, joy and bliss. We have created more space within ourselves; more space for our soul light to be present.

May we normalise the processing and HEALTHY expression of grief, rage, sorrow, despair.

May we learn to truly hold ourselves and others with love and compassion.

May we begin to welcome all that we are so that we may live and create from a place of bliss and balance.

ABOUT ME:

I am a Soul Guide, Reiki Practitioner, Meditation Facilitator and Cuddle Therapist. I have a degree in Psychology / Sociology, recently adding credits / module in Trauma and the Embodied Brain. Along with the therapeutic one-to-one sessions that I offer, I am experienced in facilitating a Women’s Drum and Sound Circle, a Sister Sharing Circle and Grief Tending Ceremonies. I have a passion for supporting and guiding people to journey into the depths of themselves; to meet themselves with Love, to face the fear and distortions that reside in their shadows, to powerfully release and become liberated from them in order to step into their more expanded self. The principles that underpin all of my work are non-judgement, compassion, kindness, empowerment and self-love.

I have personally attended these ceremonies for three years and I have alchemised so much of my own pain. In the past 18 months I’ve had the privilege of assisting and apprenticing in them and bringing this medicine to others. I had the honour of leading one of these grief tending ceremonies at All About Love festival this year, with the support of my dearest Sister, Rosie (who will also assist in this ceremony).

IMPORTANT:

*NB: The majority of us have experienced some trauma in our lives that we wish to gain support with. However, I ask that if you have experienced deep trauma in your life and have ongoing mental health care needs / concerns, that you contact me prior to booking this event. It is essential that your needs are considered and that I can ensure this ceremony is best suited to your healing journey. Thank you for your understanding. *

I look forward to welcoming you.

With Love
