What role can we play as conscious stewards in the current ecological crisis?

Is there a path forward towards a sustainable and harmonious relationship with the planet or are we doomed?

Human civilization - our home -  is at the convergence of a metacrisis - climate collapse, inhumane poverty and the incredible institutional violence deployed to uphold this status quo. Western culture, bereft of ideas beyond its prescriptive paradigm, tells you that saving the world can only be done if the means make profit.

Do you feel trapped? Does it seem like our collective future is dead and cancelled? We can revive it, but to do so we must travel together, beyond the present bounds of our imagination, through the hopeful intersection of ecology, the power of community and quite possibly- psychedelics

We welcome a panel of three expert-activists from across each field, who have been working both within and outside of ‘the system’ to bring humanity’s future back to life: Dr Gail Bradbrook, co-founder of Extinction Rebellion; Dr Rosalind Watts, famed clinical psychologist and founder of ACER Integration; and Deborah Parrish Snyder, co founder of Synergetic Press and Co-Director of the Institute of Ecotechnics, the organisation behind Biosphere 2 - hosted by Lara Tambacopoulou of the Future Primitive podcast.

Produced in partnership with Synergetic Press, a portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit PRALER (Planet Repairs Action Learning Education Revolution), which is being supported by Gail Bradbrook through Extinction Rebellion's "Being the Change" initiative.

This event will be recorded and the video will be sent to everyone who registers.

SPEAKERS

Gail Bradbrook (Extinction Rebellion)

Dr Gail Bradbrook has been researching, planning, and training for mass civil disobedience since 2010 and is a co-founder of the social movement Extinction Rebellion (XR), which has spread internationally since its launch in October 2018: there are more than 1150 XR groups in 75 countries. Gail has been arrested several times for acts of civil disobedience, and for these actions she faces a potential jail sentence of up to 10 years.

She has trained in molecular biophysics, and her talk on the science of the ecological crisis, the psychology of active participation, and the need for civil disobedience has gone viral and been inspired many to join XR. She is from Yorkshire, the mother of two boys, the daughter of a coal miner, and was named by GQ as one of the top 50 influencers in the UK, and honoured in a Women’s Hour Power list for her part in instigating a rebellion against the British Government. She is currently working on a major new global programme of work called XR Being the Change.

Dr Rosalind Watts (ACER Integration)

As former Clinical Lead of the Psilocybin for Depression trial at Imperial College London, Dr Rosalind Watts led a clinical team which facilitated over a hundred psilocybin treatment sessions. She developed the ACE model for psychedelic-assisted therapy ‘Accept, Connect, Embody’, which has been used in clinical trials of psilocybin and dmt and is now launching a global online integration community, ‘Accept, Connect, Embody, Restore’ (ACER) where members will follow a 12 month process together. She has developed a psychometric tool for measuring outcomes of psychedelic therapy (the Watts Connectedness Scale) is clinical track lead on the Synthesis Institute’s Psychedelic Practitioner Training, and sits on the clinical advisory board of the Usona Institute, a not-for-profit psilocybin manufacturer and research organisation.

Deborah Parrish Snyder (Synergetic Press)

Deborah has been engaged in ecological work aimed to develop and demonstrate ways of sustainable living for over 30 years.

She is a co-owner and publisher of Synergetic Press, Ltd., has published over 40 books in ethnobotany, psychedelics, biospherics, consciousness, and cultures since establishing it in 1984. In 1986, she was on the team that designed and built Biosphere 2. There she met Richard Evans Schultes, publishing his two classic books on the ethnobotany of the Colombian Amazonia. In 1990 she started The Biosphere Press, an imprint of Space Biospheres Ventures, producing a dozen books for children on biospheres and biomes; developed a K-12 curriculum; and helped launch the first peer-reviewed journal in closed ecological systems, Life Support and Biosphere Science.

In 1999, she moved to Synergia Ranch, in Santa Fe, NM, which was established in 1969 as an intentional community and site where the Institute of Ecotechnics was formed. Deborah is currently a director and VP of the U.S. non-profit. Synergia Ranch is home to a 4-acre organic orchard, a half-acre market garden, and a small retreat center. A recent documentary, Spaceship Earth, features the work of the Institute and its landmark ecological project, Biosphere 2.

From 1982 to 2019, Deborah spent time volunteering most years on the Institute’s pastoral regeneration project in the northwest Kimberley of West Australia. Starting as an apprentice in savannah system management, by 1990 she became a co-owner and chairwoman of the 5000 acre freehold property.

Lara Tambacopoulou (Future Primitive)

Born in 60s Switzerland, Lara is of British, Greek, and Polish descent with a rich and diverse lived experience. She is a peer counsellor, a systemic constellations facilitator, a psychedelic activist, a poet, and a photographer and is currently on an intense apprenticeship as a student with the Awe Foundation 3-year Psychedelic Therapy Training program.

A lifelong learner, her education spans from an MA in Image and Communications, an MBA and a Counseling degree from the University of British Columbia and has worked in business and humanitarian contexts. Today she is most passionate about her systemic constellations work, which she is trained at the Centre for Systemic Constellations in the UK. Everything she does is motivated by the wisdom of radical inclusion, where allowing everything to belong, brings all living beings to a state of consciousness and therefore, harmony with all living beings.

She is the host of Future Primitive podcasts which was started by her late mother Joanna Harcourt Smith in 2006.

She initiates dialogues with visionaries, authors, and anyone who has an essential truth to share in our quest to return to a life of connection to one another, the earth, and beyond.

Future Primitive

Since 2006, Future Primitive has been hosting intimate conversations with authors, visionaries and innovators who speak about our connection and partnership with the Living Earth. We provide this content in order to advance saner and more compassionate visions of our future, guided by our remembering of ancestral wisdom.
