Spring Nourish: A Yoga & Herbal Workshop
NEW DATE: Saturday 27 April | 1.30-5.30pm | Beechwood Club, Fishponds BS16 3TP + Local foraging walk!
A celebration of spring, co-facilitated by yoga facilitator Hannah Embleton-Smith and Helen White, one of Bristol's favourite medical herbalists.
As the earth's energy rises, come outside for a springtime forage, learning the properties of the season's plants and how they can support your health throughout the year.
In the herbal work, Helen will bring her expertise to show us how we can engage with the natural world as we move through it. Learn how to recognise health-supporting plants, and deepen your knowledge of properties held in the more common ones. The plants that grow all around us can offer wonderful health-giving benefits, and there are straightforward ways to prepare and enjoy them.
Learn tangible herbalism skills so that you can forage in confidence, try delicious foraged fare made by Helen, and receive spring recipes to take home.
Back in the local Beechwood Club, bring environment into body with a yoga practice celebrating the life-giving element of water. We'll play with mantra, asana, meditation and nidra to recognise and enjoy our inner flow, moving on the breath to find more space, joy and inspiration for the bright seasons ahead.
About us
Helen has been practising as a community herbalist for the past 8 years, with a firm belief in herbal medicine as “people’s medicine”. She has held a lifelong interest in the healing power of plants, and after years of using herbal remedies for herself and her family, she followed her dream of training as a medical herbalist. Through sharing her knowledge, Helen aims to demystify the preparation and use of herbal medicines and bring them back into everyday use and on our kitchen shelves, where they belong.
Hannah is a 550+ hour trained yoga facilitator, with a practice rooted in non-dual Śaiva tantra. Among her teachers, past and present, are Sam Burkey, Sarah Harlow, Christopher Gladwell, Christopher Wallis, Prem Sadasivananda, Becky Szwandt and Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, as well as being guided by the teachings of the ancient sages such as Vasugupta and Abhinavagupta through the texts.
