To awaken is to see, to feel, to know. It is the unveiling of our truth—our purpose, our potential, and the wisdom encoded within us.

This ecstatic dance event has been designed to be a portal, a sacred space where movement becomes a catalyst for deep remembering. Through breath, rhythm, and free movement, we shake off the layers of illusion, activating the dormant energies within. As we set a community intention to Awaken and move together, we call forth the sleeping aspects of ourselves to WAKE UP through dance. 

What each person has to awaken within them will be divinely unique to each persons journey and together we become a collective of truth, freedom and unity through each of our individual awakenings. 

I usually stay clear of bringing too much New Age philosophy into my sessions, yet this time, it felt very aligned to go ALL IN with some full DNA Activation Dance Miracle Magick. 💙🧬💜

The music for this event will be an alchemy of sounds and sounding designed to awaken the body and expand the mind. Psychedelic beats taking you on a deep, transcendent journey, with tribal rhythms grounding you in the primal pulse of life. Specifically chosen binaural beats will weave through the soundscape, subtly shifting your consciousness to its fullest aligned state. Through this fusion of sound and movement, dormant strands of your DNA awaken, unlocking deep-seated potential, intuitive wisdom, and cellular transformation. 

If you are feeling the nudge for some deep rooted transcendence, this is the dance for you!!!! ✨

At Ecstatic Dance Nottingham you are invited to move, play, connect, sweat, stretch, sound, unwind, renew, release, improvise and transform.

Colwick Community Centre, Vale Rd, Colwick, Nottingham NG4 2GP

Parking and buses 

There is a small free carpark and free street parking surrounding the venue. 

It is on the 44 Bus Route to get to us. 

Doors Open at 14:45 and they will be locked once the Opening Ceremony starts, so please give yourself enough space make it on time,  as you won't be able to get in once the doors are locked. 

What is Ecstatic Dance?

Ecstatic Dance is a dance/movement practice exploring the exhilarating feeling of moving your body freely. You are invited to move, play, connect, sweat, stretch, sound, unwind, renew, release, improvise and transform.

ED has organically grown into a space of movement and music exploration inspired by sources such as; Gabrielle Roth (5 rhythms), ritual dance, trance dance and contact improvisation. These influences have evolved Ecstatic Dance into a movement journey of the mind, body and soul. The music will take the dancer on a movement journey through a diverse mixture of rhythms and genres depending on the DJ and circle leader. There is no teacher, but there is a circle leader to provide containment and guidance.

Guidelines

1. No talking in the dance space

2. No shoes. Ecstatic Dance is a barefoot dance practice helping us to ground and connect to the earth

3. No drugs/alcohol.

4. Phone-free zone

5. Respect for each other's personal space

What to bring

- Comfy clothes for movement and expression, changing facilities are provided in the toilets

- Suggestion, Bring a post dance snack :-)

Facilitator Victoria Jane & DjVJ

Victoria Jane has been passionate about dance since early childhood, dancing through ballet school and performing arts college to accomplishing a BA Hons in Contemporary Dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. After her studies, Victoria found interest in the healing arts, yogic movement and philosophy. Victoria first found her passion for free flow movement through '5 Rhythms' workshops in Melbourne Australia and then ventured back to Europe where she facilitated Ecstatic Dance in The Netherlands with the Ecstatic Dance team in The Hague. Victoria has an MA Degree in Myth, Cosmology and the Sacred, where she majored in Jungian thought, Spiritual Channeling and Ekstasis Dance, exploring her concept 'Being or Pretending to Be', into the question, 'Are you Dancing or Pretending to Dance?'

Victoria hopes her experience and knowledge bring ease-fulness, depth and inspiration to the ecstatic dancers' inner journey and expression.

DJvJ (Victoria Jane) is self taught World Fusion DJ and has recently been professionally trained by the 'Dance is Medicine' Ecstatic DJ School. DJvJ's music set style is an explorational journey through tribal percussion, classical piano, folk, African house, Indian sitar, tantric beats, latin salsa with a dash of 90s house and maybe even a cheeky pop song now and again. As Victoria was a dancer before she was a DJ she has an ear for what will make you DANCE DANCE DANCE.
