Hope you have all had an restful and inspiring summer!
We begin this term on 8th September for a FORAGING WALK to get out on the land and gather plants together.
Meeting at Hembry Castle to collect heather and grasses to dry for broomstick making and coil pot baskets later in the term
(will send exact pin in our group - bring your secateurs)
18.30-20.30
Then, on the 22nd September we will co-create some LAND ART together !!!
(location TBC, either walking distance from the MIC or up where I live on the moors if people can share lifts up as theres limited parking)
18.30 - 20.30
This co-created artwork will be a practice of appreciation for all the plants we have harvested and transformed into beautiful craft so far. This is a time to collectively work out what a reciprocal relationship with the land might look like so ideas are welcome!
We will be creating a living woven sculpture on a giant loom formed beneath a tree. Bring with you secateurs and any special pieces of cordage you want to contribute. I will bring some of the materials we have worked with so far (pine, wool, daffodil, dandelion, nettle, ivy, hazel) and we can weave together a collective natural offering in the landscape.
Bring with you any words or poems around harvest time and the incredible abundance of this time of year and we will end with a small ceremony.
From the 29th September - 17th November (8 sessions) we will meet like usual at the MIC from 19.00 - 20.30
