Regenerating Rhythms is an approach that explores the activism of prioritizing our rest, wellbeing and connection with nature, over cultural conditioning that forces our bodies to work to the point of burnout.
Calling on over ten years of artistic practices, embodiment, creativity, ritual, nature connection, learning and activism, this work draws on a variety of influences to create the breathing space for people to dive into cyclical wisdom as a pathway to reflect on what we need to unlearn in order to prioritise a post growth future, one that values our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing over profit and productivity.
In this two hour workshop /talk we will explore the Celtic wheel of the year and touch on some of the other natural cycles that exist. We will explore how we are stuck in ‘perpetual summer’ and ways that we can shift our patterns to bring more variety of cyclical rhythms into our lives and discover some practices for deepening our connection to nature, as we discuss ways we can embody the shifts we long to see.
This event welcomes people of all genders and none.

Some Background
In the Northern Hemisphere, November is a time of the year where we can feel the shift to slow down and put on the brakes, as winter begins to take hold. The colder days and longer nights signal to us that a change in our energy is needed in order to adjust to the season and conserve our resources for spring. Many of us tend to speed through winter, or any other time of the year, without so much as glimpsing these rhythmic changes. We often see ourselves as separate from nature rather than interconnected and affected by it.
However, we are living in a culture of burnout, stress, anxiety and productivity that is making us and the planet unwell. So many find it difficult to move beyond the ‘busy’ that we are all accustomed to, forcing ourselves into unnatural rhythms to meet the expectations of the society we live in.
Regenerating Rhythms was created through ongoing research into cyclical living with the seasons, how to stay resilient and resourced in activism and also to cultivate a more intimate and connected relationship with the natural world. Through the Enrol Yourself 6 month peer-led Learning Marathon and now being part of the first cohort of the Buckminster Fuller Design Science Studio, Regenerating Rhythms has been evolving through workshops and creative interventions to become a road map for regeneration.
About the Facilitator
Alana is an artist, facilitator, performer, ritualist and activist committed to expressing life to its fullest capacity through creativity and facilitation. More recently she has been exploring what it means to become a doula to systems change through the intersections of ritual, community, spirituality, learning and creativity. She weaves embodiment, cyclical wisdom, pleasure, grief and artistry into the spaces she holds, drawing on her lifelong curiosity in leading groups. Since 2016 she has run an array of creative retreats including The Warren where she creates experiences for people to explore their creative gifts through community, connection and many practices inspired by theatre & dance. She is co-director of The Living Projects, a regenerative land based learning community in Devon, a Host Mentor with Enrol Yourself and a member of the Buckminster Fuller Design Science Studio 2020.

This is the second session I have attended with Alana now, and I have looked forward to it ever since Imbolc. I left the evening feeling so much more at peace, with intention and clarity and rested filled with love and gratitude. Alana's approach is incredibly spacious and generous and I have left both Imbolc and the Spring Equinox so inspired and more mindful of how I care for and follow my own rhythms, and have encouraged those around me to do so, too. I can't wait for the next one. What a beautiful thing to mark time together in this way, even from afar and via Zoom.

A deeply nourishing time that was over in the blink of an eye. There was a real sense of connectedness between the group no matter that we were participating digitally. Alana held us all very gently and shared lots of helpful personal insight.

Intimate & uplifting! Alana is an incredible space holder and facilitator. I loved how each week she has guided us into the qualities and archetypes of the season through embodied exercises, bringing us closer to our emotions and the more-than-human world! I felt safe to share, connected to the other participants, inspired, and nourished... Thanks!!
