‘The creative process is a process of surrender, not control’ - Julia Cameron

Friday evenings 7:30 - 9:30 (starting 10th October)

Join us for a 10-week journey, in a small closed group, to explore the power and potential of the creative process within a supportive compassionate environment.

What is the Creative Process?

As children, we all had the innate ability to play and be creative. The ‘creative process’ is this  experience of play, spontaneity and exploration, which although may be forgotten, is something that we never lose access to. This group will be an opportunity to reconnect to this innate ability, finding flow and ease in creation.

Each session will incorporate both guided exercises and space for free exploration. We will incorporate opportunities to explore through dance, movement, art-making, music, writing and vocalisation. Over the 10 weeks, we will be helping you build your creative muscles and bring more freedom of expression into your process.

Why engage with the Creative Process?

By entering the creative process we can open the door to the unknown inside ourselves and encounter it in a gentle and accepting way. In this course, we will practice dropping into body knowledge, using non-linear ways of thinking and improvisation/play.

This practice can allow deeper self-awareness, connection with self and others and fresh perspectives to emerge. This can be helpful to our lives outside of the group, bringing more creativity, flexibility and grounding into daily life.

It also can be very relaxing and fun!

You don't need any prior experience in creative arts and movement practices to engage in the group.

Disclaimer:

Although therapeutic, this group is not therapy and therefore is not suitable for those currently experiencing acute mental health challenges. Participants must be able to reflect on your own inner process and have a good degree of self-awareness to engage with the group.

Please email Mareike or Fiona if you have queries about whether the group is right for you and we would be happy to discuss this with you.

Note about cost:

If you would like to spread out the cost over a payment plan, please get in touch via email to arrange this.

The course is charged for full 10-weeks £250 (full), £200 (concession). Each session will build on the last and we will be building up a container together, therefore it's not possible to come for just one week. If possible, please try to attend all 10 sessions.

About the facilitators:

Our group is inspired by our work in Dance Movement Psychotherapy, Physical Theatre/Live Art and Focusing, bringing together a rich tapestry of knowledge of the creative therapeutic process.
