South West Colourmakers

We're an emerging network of creative practitioners working with natural colour in South West England. Our members include artists, makers, researchers and growers, engaged in cultivating, creating and working with dyes, pigments, inks and paints made from locally sourced plants, minerals and waste stream products. 

We hold a ‘Mischief of Colourmakers’ meet up every 6 months or so, with smaller gatherings organised adhoc via our members' Whatsapp group. These are informal events, aimed at strengthening our network and fostering mutual support and learning. A space to share ideas, processes, doubts, queries and the joy of working within the landscape and ecology of South West. 

The group was co-founded by Ione Maria Rojas, an ecological artist, educator and landworker, and Flora Arbuthnott, founder of Plants & Colour, an international online learning platform for natural colour. Our aim is for a member-led network, with events and offerings being organised for and by members across the South West. Do get in touch if you'd like to help organise something.
