This policy explains how Dandelion handles personal data when you use the Dandelion platform. Event organisers using Dandelion may also be independent controllers of the information they collect for their events.

What We Collect

We collect information you give us, such as your name, email address, username, password, profile details, event bookings, applications, answers to event questions, messages, comments, files and support requests. Optional profile fields may include phone number, location, date of birth, gender, biography, interests and social links.

We collect technical information needed to run the service, including IP address, browser and device information, log data, security events, session data and approximate location inferred from your IP address.

We receive payment and booking information from payment processors and event organisers. Card details are handled by payment processors such as Stripe, Mollie and PayPal and are not stored by Dandelion.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • create and manage your account;
  • provide event ticketing, bookings, applications, memberships, messages and community features;
  • send service emails such as login, booking, event and account notifications;
  • process payments, refunds, disputes and accounting records with payment providers and event organisers;
  • protect Dandelion from fraud, spam, abuse and security threats;
  • respond to support requests and legal obligations;
  • improve and understand the platform, including optional analytics where consent is required.

Lawful Bases

We process personal data where it is necessary to perform our contract with you, where we have a legal obligation, where we or event organisers have a legitimate interest that is not overridden by your rights, or where you have given consent.

Where you choose to provide special category data, such as sexuality, health-related answers, access needs or similar sensitive information, we process it only where you have made it available by your clear action, where it is needed for an event you choose to join, or where another lawful condition applies.

Sharing

We share information with:

  • event organisers, when needed to manage events, memberships, applications, tickets, refunds, communications and safety;
  • service providers who host, secure, monitor, email, analyse or support Dandelion;
  • payment processors and financial providers;
  • anti-spam, security and abuse-prevention providers;
  • public authorities, regulators or others where required by law or necessary to protect rights, safety or security.

Some event pages may include organiser-controlled analytics or marketing tools. These are only loaded where permitted by your cookie choices.

International Transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards such as adequacy regulations, standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections.

Retention

We keep personal data only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above. Account and community content is kept while your account is active unless deleted earlier. Booking, payment, tax and audit records may be kept for up to seven years. Security logs are usually kept for shorter periods unless needed to investigate abuse or legal issues.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, withdraw consent, request portability, and complain to a data protection authority. In the UK, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on Dandelion before they take effect where practical.
