Embodied Clay

Raphaela is a full-time potter based in Bristol and has been working with clay for over 10 years. Her practice draws on a deep connection to nature, mythology, and meaning-making, with a focus on slow, hand-built pieces created for ritual and ceremony. She co-runs a community pottery studio in St Anne’s, where she teaches a range of workshops for the local community.

Alongside her pottery, Raphaela has a somatic coaching practice and enjoys weaving elements of this into her workshops to create a more mindful and intentional experience.

Clay has been used for thousands of years to create vessels for ritual, storytelling, and everyday life, and Raphaela feels deeply connected to this ancient tradition. This is a material you can dig straight from the earth and shape into something beautiful and meaningful. She finds great joy in the connection to nature that working in this way brings.
