The eagerly awaited album launch tour from ANNA ANISE introduces a radiant new voice in modern folk. Blending melodic hooks, rich vocals, and full-bodied guitar tunings, her debut bilingual album Aneth seamlessly weaves together English and Cornish (Kernewek), creating something truly captivating.
On this very special afternoon house show, Anna will be joined on by her band of exceptional Cornish musicians, Lizzie Pridemore, Millie Young and Issy Meltzer who bring soaring string arrangements and close harmonies to the uplifting arrangements of her debut bilingual album.
Anna’s latest work brings a rhythmic, lament-tinged optimism to the evolving sound of Kernewek in song. The album follows a successful crowdfunding campaign supporting this collection of songs that showcases both the Cornish language and some of the region’s most exceptional musicians. This album has been made possible by the creative support of translator Elizabeth Ellis, musical director Daniel Woodfield and producer Sam Jones, alongside many others working at the forefront of Cornish arts and music.
Supporting will be CLAIRE VINE, a folk singer and songwriter based in Machynlleth, Cymru. Her solo project fearlessly explores urgent themes of land rights, oppression, climate change and inequality, in timeless songs that sound like they've always existed. Using subtle electronics to layer her voice into a haunting choir, she creates a space for her listeners to collectively feel the grief expressed in her music, offering a moment of shared catharsis. She is also a skilled song-interpreter, delivering classics from the traditional/folk revival canon with a new and profound humanity.
