"The female body is its own spiritual path." - Kimberly Ann Johnston

ABOUT THE NIGHT

Serpent & The Dove is a 3 hour movement journey for women* to come together and explore eros and sensuality as natural expressions of our life-force.

It's an inquiry into the creative power, aliveness and spiritual dimensions available within our own bodies that we often find ourselves disconnected from due to thousands of years of patriarchal conditioning and distortion.

The more we attune with it, the more we align with the literal forces of nature - our shared nature.

This strengthens our ability to use our intuition, agency and connection not just to benefit our own lives, but to uplift all life in our circles of influence.

The inspiration for this inquiry came to Katy Molloy when she spent 40 days and nights camping solo in a mountain forest in southern France.

Following the 5Rhythms® map, we’ll connect to these innocent, powerful and tender currents, allowing them to express through us.

5Rhythms®, is a dynamic movement meditation practice devised by Gabrielle Roth in the late 1970s. Free in form, the dance has no steps to follow and the music moves through a sequence of five distinct energy states; flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical, stillness.

EVENT BOUNDARIES

Removing clothing - with the exception of lower underwear / knickers -  is welcome and completely optional.

If you wish, bring along clothing to play with that connects you to your erotic and sensual expression.

Self touch - with the exception of genital stimulation - is welcome and completely optional. Essentially, feel free to run your hands over your body if you're moved to do so.

No touch, or contact dance with others.

CARE

Whilst the intention of this event isn't to surface and process trauma, uncomfortable or difficult emotions can sometimes arise.

There will be two designated cushion areas in the room - one if you’d like a facilitator to come and support you, and another to be by yourself without interruption.

CULTURE

Our intention is to co-create a space of celebration, where each of us is free to discover and define what feels erotic or sensual on our own terms.

This is an opportunity to reclaim sovereignty over our own expression, honouring what feels true and natural to us, regardless of how it might appear to others.

The invitation is to notice if familiar patterns of expectation, comparison or judgement arise, towards ourselves or one another, and to meet them with curiosity and compassion.

There is nothing to perform, nothing to prove, just a continual returning to the subtle, or not-so-subtle, impulses that arise organically from within. To trust what feels right in each moment, and to celebrate our own unique expression, including the choice not to express anything at all.

* Inclusive of cis women, trans women and women-aligned non-binary folks.

THE VENUE

Lekdanling (Tibetan for “place of good fortune”) is a Tibetan cultural centre, created in a spirit of openness. It welcomes people from all walks of life who are interested in the study of the human mind, self-development and inner understanding.

Our space is completely private and secure. There is an area to leave shoes and bags, toilets including a disabled toilet and a kitchenette where water bottles can be filled.
